Arkhan
So, mid demon-attack, the Intellivision went retarded. In Demon Attack now, the title screen shakes violently like an earthquake. Once a game is started, no enemies appear. Just my ship and shot and the scenery. Other games don't even work. Tron, Space Armada, Thunder Csatle.... they don't do a damn thing. Any ideas? Kind of disappointed now.

Arkhan
On the cartridges, or the port on the system? Either way, yes. Would this really make it break mid-game though?
GroovyBee
It could be a problem with the pins on the cart connector. If you are comfortable taking the console apart have a look to see if you can see any cracks around the pins to the cart connector. Reflow dodgy looking joints and fix broken PCB tracks if necessary. If you have an intellivoice see if the games work through that too.
+save2600
On the cartridges, or the port on the system? Either way, yes. Would this really make it break mid-game though? You're back! I have a Tron Deadly Discs that'll play for a little while before crashing. Contacts and solder joints are perfectly fine. This is now the 4th Intellivision cart I've seen within a months time that's gone goofy. Hope this isn't going to become a trend with their carts. Anyone have an opinion about the difference longevity wise between chips in plastic(how we usually see roms) and the silicon blob directly on the board? It cant be the carts, I hope. Unless they all died simultaneously. I believe that the blob on board method is better. I say this because I have never encountered a broken HuCard, but I have encountered broken carts on every system: NES, SMS, Genesis, 2600, INTV, SNES, C64... Id like to get it fixed though so I can play the damn thing. lol
SlowCoder
You gave your intv a heart attack playing that high speed, process intensive Demon Attack. Your geriatric intv simply couldn't handle the load any more. So, where did you go? You didn't say bye to me when you left. Some friend you are. Also I dunno who you are.
JacobZu7zu7
On the cartridges, or the port on the system? Either way, yes. Would this really make it break mid-game though? No, I don't think it's in need of a cleaning, but it sounds like something has shorted out in the system itself. I never opened an Intellvision so I am not sure what it could be. The way you described Tron working for a while, makes me think its the system, not the games. I think it could be fixable... just gotta find someone here who can identify the problem. Tron does work perfectly, but then stops?? Is it possible the pause button or keypads are malfuntioning? When u pause a game, it goes black. I live in backwoods, so odds are good I won't find retro games nearby. Better off asking the want section here at AtariAge, or if someone has a spare console to sell or trade, chime on in. If noone has one, I'd go with eBay.

I also never had an Intellivision game not work, never encountered a broken Odyssey 2 game ever, not even close. I HAVE had 4-6 Atari 2600 games malfunction or break or DOA. Yeah, both good options but Intellivisions are soooo common they are almost always available locally and then you don't get stuck paying shipping, which in this case can cost more than the console itself

zylon
how many moneys is it, and is it going to break a week later and leave me screwed It's an Intellivision 1 system and it worked fine through the HSC season. How much longer, no one can ever tell. It did have a problem inside the rf unit where the tv cable plugs in but I resoldered it. I've found it best no to remove the cable much on these since it helps the socket to loosen up. I'd sell it for $15usd plus S&H, but no overseas(or undersea ). If not, I'll keep it for a spare.
