sermajic
Just hopes that atarimax surprises us with another quick/deluxe sd multicart, After colecovision and 5200 ultimate sd carts... Begging steve!
dwane413
In the H2 thread, Batari said: I will have some time to continue work on this shortly. Hopefully I will have something by the end of the summer. My regular Harmony cartridge is great. So if I decide to buy an sd cart for the 7800, I would want it to be made by the same people. Since I haven't used any other flash carts, I don't know how the ones made by Atarimax operate. After writing that, I read the Formatting your SD Card page from the Atarimax website and watched the following video and was impressed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYYFeFItX5w Still, I'd go with the Harmony 2, because I know more about it. +batari
personally have both products, even bought lots of harmony carts "just in case", but i feel atarimax sd carts have superior quality/presentation (leds, nice labels.lots of ram ,streaming levels from sd and so on...) will eventually buy harmony 2 too if it ever comes out though I agree that AtariMax products are excellent in every sense of the word (which I really can't say for "other" flash cart creators that some have suggested would come before H2.) If AtariMax made a 7800 cart, it would be a serious competitor for H2. But, I have to say that you can't really compare the (2600) Harmony with AtariMax carts. They are for different systems and Harmony costs half of what AtariMax carts do. Also, Harmony features are no indication of what H2 features will be. H2 has 16 times the memory, a much faster, more capable MCU, and the list goes on. There will be at least one feature in H2 that (to my knowledge) no other flash cart for a classic system has ever had. What's wrong with Harmony labels? But, you are right in one sense. H2 has no LEDs
sermajic
don`t get me wrong! Batari ! i`m the one who made you ship several pairs of harmony carts to Argentina to store them as spairs "just in case" (same thing with all Atarimax 's carts, wich i prefer by the way) i totally love your product, just wished it was more feature packed, regardless the price , the "deluxe" option was no luxury at all, with the same gray label and regular case and that 32k limit in the 21 st century... but then again its one of my favourite toys, well beyond many of my classic cars personally have both products, even bought lots of harmony carts "just in case", but i feel atarimax sd carts have superior quality/presentation (leds, nice labels.lots of ram ,streaming levels from sd and so on...) will eventually buy harmony 2 too if it ever comes out though I agree that AtariMax products are excellent in every sense of the word (which I really can't say for "other" flash cart creators that some have suggested would come before H2.) +wood_jl
i totally love your product, just wished it was more feature packed, regardless the price , Well, not everyone wants more features. I think the Harmony cart is absolutely PERFECT the way it is. It's an excellent balance of features and cost. I see no need for LEDs and extra crap that would increase complexity and therefore cost. Seeing as how it plays everything I've tried, I'm not sure what's missing. If it's LEDs I'm after, I see you can buy shoes that have blinking LEDs in them - little kids wear them around here. I am also a big fan of the Atarimax products, I should say. I'm glad they're both available, even though they're not the same thing.
sermajic
i totally respect your opinion! but the higher priced Harmony version was not that much better, with only a cable for that price i totally love your product, just wished it was more feature packed, regardless the price , Well, not everyone wants more features. No, I meant now I understand why you're being so rude to people like Bob and batari who've worked their asses off to produce quality products. It's because you're from Argentina. I should know, my wife is from Argentina and almost all of her family is the same way. Always offering up unwanted opinions, delivered in the most rude manner possible. sermajic
well i find the blue access led in my Atarimax`s carts very useful by the way, many times i thought my atari was freezing, when indeed it was readind many files/directories i totally love your product, just wished it was more feature packed, regardless the price , Well, not everyone wants more features. You ordered so many Harmony carts I lost count And yes, you're not the only one who didn't like the 32k limit - some of the Harmony developers also felt constrained. The reason for the 32k chip was so that Melody boards would be inexpensive enough to be feasible. Yes, there were larger chips available but they would have cost too much for Melody. I felt it was important to use the same chip in Melody and Harmony to ensure that any game developed on a Harmony could be released on a cart. There will be no "7800 Melody" so we can use a far more expensive (and capable) chip here. There will also be a much bigger difference between standard and deluxe H2. I'm not yet ready to divulge all of the details yet but will in time. It sounds like you'd like a different label on the Deluxe as well (that's a good idea and I will consider that.)
