Your Doubles Collection.

What carts, manuals, boxes, systems, accessories, controllers... isn't part of your main VCS collection because they are doubles? How big is your doubles collection? Why do you have them? Are you going to or are you trying to sell them? Are you saving them for backups? I have almost two collections because of my doubles and I'm curious about yours.

Actually I only got 17 doubles. They were left from some bought auction on ebay.

Some of them were replaced by a cart in better condition, some other were simply double.

I'm gonna sell them in a couple of days on ebay again to get some free space ;)

I just got the doubles I got with the Heavy Sixer I bought--just 16 carts including Capture which I consider a duplicate because I already have Flag Capture. I'd like to send them to Al to make homebrews but will wait until he's not so busy. Does anyone else take commons to make into homebrews?

I have an extra set of paddles and a couple extra joy sticks, but they are nice to have anyway.

I've got two 5200 consoles, three 7800 consoles, four 2600 consoles, a trackball, a video-plexer, and assorted games and boxes sitting behind me in my office right now. Just no room to keep non-functional, semi-functional, or extras around the house. They make for a nice conversation starter when colleagues and students drop by.

I usually get duplicates of cartridges when they can be bought cheaply since loose carts are easy/inexpensive to store (just buy another plastic tote). I bought a lot from a Goodwill auction two or three weeks ago that included a 2600 Jr. and 28 cartridges, six of which were duplicates of Pac-Man, Pitfall! and Asteroids.

I've been giving consoles with 10-20 carts away to friends and family recently, so I've been slowly shedding duplicates that way. Honestly, I don't need 16 copies of Pac-Man...I'll eventually give/sell them to someone to recycle for homebrew carts. And in the next few weeks I'm going to experiment with making reproduction Activision labels - I have many "test subjects" to work on.

I'll take the Pac-Mans!

I sold all my doubles games, I have 2 2600s (Jr. Pac-Man dosen't fit into the light 6 so I got a Sears 4 switcher), 2 Boss Wico sticks, 2 normal Atari Joysticks, I lost my extra pair of paddles (:(), end even though not Atari: 2 SNES systems (one is a SNES mini), 2 NES controllers, 2 SNES controllers (one is a Super Famicom controller.), 2 Game Boy originals, 2 copies of Duck Hunt, aand..... Two containers of isoprophyl alchohol? Oh, and I have an extra copy of 2600 Pac-Man, that I took the label off.

I've been pretty lucky w/ doubles I guess. Somehow I wound up with six copies of Pole Position II and six or so Combats, but I actually had to go out and LOOK for Pac-Man. Got a couple Dragsters, few Karatekas (one's a magnet now), extra non-working Ms Pac Man. I was lucky to be able to unload several past dupes when I gave a 7800 to my brother-in-law for Christmas. The rest, I'm going to try to unload on people looking for cart shells. I've got a forums message from a guy wanting 7800 shells that I need to reply to....

I'll get totals when I go through again, I am probably clsoe to %50 dupes in total quantity. And at one time, I think I had more Berzerk than anything else. I plan on getting rid of a bunch of common dupes soon, and the rarer ones I will probably sell/trade. Hopefully for missing manuals, or games I ahve the manual, but no cart. I want to keep about 10-20 of dirt common ones incase I make my own carts.

All i have now is about 25 empty carts with a bright blue t-handle...

two words: label variations

I collect label variations. I don't just collect general label variations like picture label and text label. I collect every single specific variation. If there is a comma instead of a period it is a variation. Unless a cart is an exact clone of another I consider it a variation. Sometimes I'm even tempted to consider the the numbers imprinted on Atari end labels as variations but that is the only difference I haven't considered an actual difference because I suspect they are similar to serial numbers. I consider my clones the doubles.

One of the reasons I'm curious about everyone's doubles is deciding how to get rid of mine. At first I was thinking about making lots with systems but now I'm thinking more along the lines of making one huge lot but having people make their own lots out of it by biding on single carts because making lots with systems probably would only work well on ebay. I would be getting rid of the doubles to make room for more variations so I'm playing around with an idea of accepting variations I don't have as currency along with cash in bids. Some people would bid with cash, some would bid with doubles I need, and some would bid with both. I'm trying to find a solution that I and members of the community can profit from the most. By profit I mean adding to our collections. It is kind of hard to explain.

I'm also just curious in general about people's doubles because most threads are about their primary collections.

I have a few label variations. I like the Sears picture variations, but I can never remember the game by the Sears name.

A couple I picked up by accident, Zellers name variations and such- but I do better now (thanks to atarimania.com).

I had a hard time deciding between Atari brand pic or text label, so I get both when they're cheap.

The later ataricorp labels with typos etc are nice to have sometimes.

I have two copies of superman, asteroids, and othello because of rom differences.

I also have hundreds of ET, just because. If you have some spare ET, I might buy them.

I like every variation but my favorite is the glossy plastic Combat. My Harmony Cart is my games. My carts are my baseball cards.

Why E.T.? Do you have R.T.D.?

I have a box of doubles for the systems in my house. I'll be listing them here for trade soon and them moving whats left after that on eBay or Craigslist or something. I normally end up keeping 1 of each label for Atari and that is all. I have gotten to buying lots in live auctions and eBay and I have my personal social network (the real deal not eh Facebook crap) working so from time to time my brother calls me with someone selling a pile of stuff and I get doubles there.

Its the common stuff I have the hardest time getting and thats were the doubles come in. I rarely see the more common stuff for sale by itself so I buy 20 games for 4 that I need and have a pile left at the end.

I have around 300 doubles that are loose and around 200 doubles that are boxed. A couple of heavy sixers (boxed), light sixers (boxed), 4 switchers, and an extra vader. 2 boxed control balls, wireless controllers and a bunch of other misc. crap. I am eventually gonna sell the the dupes. , but it is honestly hard for me to let them go.

With my boxed doubles and loose doubles, I wouldn't doubt 1800-2000 right now. I'll be working on moving stuff soon hopefully. Since I'm always buying, I'm always acquiring lots of stuff I don't need. If I can get my act together and work on one thing instead of many, I may actually accomplish something. That's the autism in me.

I seriously am intereted in those Pac-Man carts. It's actually one of my favorite 2600 games. :ponder:

I like talking to people like you because of label variations that I need and have issues finding! Let me know if you start selling.

I think I only have about 500 dupes right now (but will be making a purchase soon that will bring it to 2000 (I really need to say no to that one....lol)
