ooXxXoo
Ok here's the deal fellas, looking at pics on the net, I've noticed that some Intv II's have a red looking trim going around their shells, and others don't... I myself have two of these units, and none of them have it.. My question is, did all INTV II's had the red trim out of the factory?..Was it some sort of decal rather than paint?.. or there where different revisions with and without it?.. Any info on this will be much appreciated thanks! Edited August 30, 2011 by ooXxXoo

IntellivisionDude
You never noticed that Rev? I remember all the way back in the early 80's when i first got my model 2, it started messing up and my mother bought me a new one. I knew right away it looked different. The first one didn't have the red trim and the second one did. Not sure why they did that though.

IntellivisionGuy97
On the Intellivision FAQ, there is a description on both of them. Here it is from the FAQ Version 7.0: ...if there were 2 or more different versions of the Intellivision II?? Galen Komatsu wondered this, and here are his thoughts on the matter: "Just noticed differences between the two Intellivision II units I have. We'll call one Ernie and the other Bert. - On the front nameplate, Ernie has a more bolder looking black surface, Bert is a bit dulled looking - Bert has the ® symbol after 'Intellivision' and 'Mattel Electronics'. - Ernie has a red stripe around the perimeter of the unit, Bert, none. - Ernie's casing has square corners; Bert's corners are more rounded. - The button squares on Ernie have a matte finish while Bert's squares have a more "glossy" finish though the areas surrounding the buttons are matte. - Looking at the underside labels, the bright orange "IMPORTANT!" has "2609-0090-G1" in the upper corner, Bert has "2609-0090" ... both labels mention eligibility for FREE CARTRIDGE if the unit requires servicing. I hope that helps.
mthompson
My Intellivision II didn't have the red stripe and didn't match my ECS and system changer. Today I just couldn't take it anymore and added the stripe with red electrical tape trimmed to 1/8 inch wide. It's a good match, and I feel better now.
Intymike
I own two Ernies and two Berts. But I never noticed the round edges.
Intymike
Now for the black or golden discs on the Intv II controllers.
Humblejack
I too like the "Sports" stripe as I call it. You forgot to do the Digiplay unit. I like the Gold disks also. These controllers were new but the plastic fell apart after 20 years so now I just keep them in a box.
First Spear
I know I have mentioned it elsewhere in this forum a year or 2 ago, but one model does not take the Christmas Carol cart. Very odd. I shelved the one that didn't take the game, I need to see if the LTO Flash fits it.
