atariron82
This is an old arcade favorite. This version is pretty accurate from what I remember. So far, I haven't seen the witch toss any skulls yet though. **Tip**: When punching bottles, it seems best to hit them at arms length to avoid unnecessary deaths ... . +DamonicFury
64,820 I remember really liking this game in the arcade. I miss the extra animation that was in the arcade game, but I'm glad the music was retained from the original. As atariron82 said, punching bottles is extra dangerous in this version... so far, it seems to be best to avoid it when possible.

+Cafeman
All we get is bottles being thrown. No skulls. My strategy about bottles: STAY AWAY FROM BOTTLES! Especially the four-in-a-row ones. Sure, you might think you have the timing down, but is it really worth risking one of your precious Popeyes over? No! The timing is tricky (if not downright suspect!) in this version. Argh, I just noticed my score was already beaten. Since it's not the top score and your play is about the same on both, I'll count it. BTW: I tried this game on my 5200 DC emulator and it played fine, just with no sound. I'll still be using the real cart instead though.

+DamonicFury
158,970 I just discovered a way to seriously boost your score in Popeye. It's so effective that I feel I need to share it in the interest of fairness. Here's how it works. On the middle screen (the one with the musical notes), set things up so that Popeye is in between Bluto and the can of spinach. Bluto needs to be coming after you. Before he gets to you, eat the spinach and follow him as he runs to Wimpy's see-saw. When he jumps on the see-saw, follow him immediately. You'll get a whopping 20,000 points for knocking him out instead of the usual 3,000! Edited September 16, 2011 by sdamon
