Blackout!

Its a tough choice... Because we could go either way on it. We would reach more people with cart, but would have an easier time making cd. Not to mention CD is cheaper. We are still 50/50 on the matter.

a competant jaguar enthusiast would be able to make a cartridge out of the cd release anyway ;)

Yah not a problem. Just depends on how you design the actual program however.

If it was made to call to the cd or check cd hardware, then no. If you have the source code, then sure :)

Problem is with cart release you would use .mod music (general concensus) but quality of music suffers vs using the CD audio instead... A cart release can be cd easily if it fits within the 2mb of ram however. If its hard-linked to run from cart and dumps its program into ram and pulls gfx from the cart then thats another story....same goes for CD if it dumps the code to ram and pulls assets from the cd itself..

Couple different ways programs are designed on the jag. If you dump code to ram and pull assets from the cart you get more available of the 2mb of ram to work with but you sacrafice speed of snagging those graphics from the cartridge vs accessing them directly in ram. With having a program in ram you end up taking up space within ram to hold those graphics already and code and slowly lose working ram with the more assets/code/ect you add.

And.............a short update here.

Trucking along here still, been stupid busy over the holidays and finally got back to coding the past week or so and have made some progress. Anything major will be posted at http://www.stormworksinteractive.com first most likely. Excuse the craptastic site, its just a place holder until i feel like actually putting something together. Id rather not spend TOO Much time hand coding a temp html site.

As for the release format. we are TRYING to get a cart release initially for those that would like an actual cartridge to plug in and play. This might also come with box/manual ect. Most likely we would be relasing the rom file later on so that everyone may have a copy eventually. This will keep the pricing of the intial few carts down and keep collectors or others from trying to drive the price/value up for any reason. The cost for carts would most likely be for parts/materials and VERY VERY Minimal profit IF any at all.

As always donations are appreciated if any when this cart release time comes around. We do this for fun just because we can and don't make $$$ off this. In fact we've spent a decent chunk of change for dev hardware.

Anyhow, happy new-years all. 2012 should be a good year for the jag with reboot/u-235/sw/others and beta phase games hopefully making releases.
