I can safely say I have never played either of these two games except for Amidar on the 2600 which I just recently bought. I like Pepper II. Reminds me of Mouse Trap a lot. But it's better! No freaking BIRD! Any who, I got to sink about an hour into Pepper today.

Man, Pepper II is damn fast. It kind of makes Nibbler look like child's play by comparison. A question for the masters of this game: when you get the "power up" do you bother eating the enemies or is it a better strategy to simply use that time to clean up the maze?

Depends - I don't go chasing after them as its a low payoff. It's chump change compared to surviving and receiving bonus points.

Also, when the heat is on, escape to another maze to buy yourself some time.

Pepper II: 843,560

Ok, ok, no, I'm not really that good. I was at around 225k with 2 lives left and all of a sudden, the "eyes" just disappeared, leaving only the round purple thing. Clearly some sort of bug in the game. Just thought I'd post it because I thought it was interesting.

I googled it and found a thread over at TG where some guy mentioned this mysterious issue. He said he's been playing the game for 20 years and has seen it happen twice. Wow, what are the odds?

I'll post a legit score eventually. :)

EDIT: here's the TG thread; see the second post.

Ok. That's it. If I play Pepper II anymore, my hand is going to be mangled.

Actually, it already is.

I'm very disappointed with my Pepper II result. Moreover, I compromised my Amidar score to get more time on Pepper.

I guess these are the type of results to expect with the sh*tty "knockoff" joystick I am using on my X Arcade tankstick.

I am starting to think a four way stick is a must. Or at least a Happ.

In conclusion, a very average week, as far as results are concerned. The fun-meter, however, was off the charts.

I know what you mean. I had to stop playing Pepper II though; I find it too frustrating. When I was about to punch my arcade cabinet, I knew it was time to turn it off.
