jig_man2
I was wondering what is the best way to clean NES Carts. I have a lot that I need to clean.
Rex Dart
>90% rubbing alcohol on a q-tip always worked well for me. The system has to be clean & working too, of course.
VertigoProcess
these threads go on for foreverrrrrr. The truth is everyone has their own "best way". But in the spirit of helping out... For me I use brasso on a q tip then 50% water mixed with 50% 70% alcohol... but if I were you id try everyones method and see which one YOU think is the best... or come up with your own and post it on the next one of these threads that pops up! Eltigro
A combination of hydrochloric acid and lava. They come out spotless... and plasticless... and metalless... But honestly, I kinda agree with Vertigo. Ask ten different people and you'll probably get about six or seven different answers... I've used pencil erasers and alcohol soaked cotton swabs before though.
SlowCoder
90+% alcohol and Q-Tips. I think there's only been one time when I actually had to go with an eraser to get a cart to work. I had to open the cart to get a proper angle.

Hatta
I'd be more worried about the brasso. Brasso is a polish, so it's abrading away some of the metal on the contacts. What you want is a solvent that will dissolve the tarnish and leave the metal behind. Look for "TV Tuner Cleaner" at Radio Shack or "Contact Cleaner" at an auto parts store. It also helps to disassemble the cart, so you can get full access to the pins.
