I'm not sure as I play mine on original hardware. Perhaps someone will chime in.

The Dig Dug rom here on AA is 32KB
I would go with that one.

Here's a 4th rom for you, bin file :)

I'd be all for it, but emulation has been allowed since this HSC began and will continue this season. Eliminating it would cut back on our participation and be difficult to follow through. For instance, I can use my DC 5200 emulator on the same TV that I play 5200 on and screenshots would look exactly the same. It's not like there's $ and prizes involved and getting people to play is the name of the game.

I would like to be able to do this, but I would have to sit out most of the season. My 5200 collection is still rather small, so I need to use emulators for games I don't have.

I always thought there was no difference between the 16K and 32K ROMs. The extra 16K in the 32K ROM is unused/duplicated code/filler right?

Why?
Is there a difference in difficulty level between emulation and original hardware?
Or it's too easy to cheat?

Some emulators allow changing the game speed and even some cleverly engineered hacks can get snuck in. Like when someone used a hack of Ms Pacman in a contest last year. It was engineered to give only the highest bonus fruits.
I believe our players are honest, otherwise they'd win a lot more games. In reality, I've found emulated versions to be harder than originals on many titles.

I see.
A similar thing happen in the MAME HSC recently.

Personally I'm just starting playing the 5200 for the first time.
This is a console and never played before and would like to try a few games to see if I should start collecting.
The HSC is a great way to do that.

I recently start playing the 7800 and I love it.
And now I'm on the hunt for a console!.

Personally, I'm happy to have emulator players joining in (as well as A8 players, when the game is basically the same.) The more the merrier!

Welcome aboard, patbb! Nice score! (Looking forward to competing with you in the multi-console Knockout in the Spring or Summer!)

Also, kudos to tank on a very nice score!

Looks like I need more Dig Dug practice... 40,690 is my best so far.

This many players could make the "shootout challenge" very interesting if I run it again. ;)

If this game was selected at the 5200 knockout, I woulda' been so OUT! ;)

Beamrider is my worst, so far. Although emulation is only way I ever played it.
