I think I read recently that Xevious (1982) was the first arcade game to ever have a commercial. I don't ever remember seeing arcade game commercials, myself.

I recall the Xevious ad, & the anncr/vo saying "are you devious enough to beat...Xevious?"

& IIRC there was a guy in a futuristic flight suit.
