Ikrananka
Maze Maniac Maze Maniac is a homebrew game for the old colecovision system. The objective is pretty simple : get as fast as you can through each maze. But I never said it was easy ! The difficulty increase with each maze. Sometimes, there are multiple exits so you have to decide which one might be faster. There are also flames that can block you a passage and pits that appears to slow you down. In all, there are seven modes of play. There is even an on-line ranking ! When you complete a mode, you are given a code to be classed among the best ! So don't wait and download this game for free ! Ikrananka
Okay folks - sorry for the long delay - had some family issues to deal with....... I haven't heard back from Eduardo regarding Magical Tree and so I have decided to end this seasons HSC with a different homebrew game with a publicly released rom. The game I have chosen is a favourite of mine: Maze Maniac. This has an on-line high score board located here and so it will be fun to see if we anyone can beat the scores already on there. After this game we'll take a month off. Over this period I will be making some changes to the HSC rules that I hope will improve things and encourage a "just one more go" attitude with more scores being posted. I will also see if I can work with homebrew authors/publishers to allow us to play more homebrew games.
roadrunner
17,007 This is a fun game. I tried to play this on ColEM but it had garbage graphics. I had to use BlueMSX The code to enter is very long. Edited June 17, 2012 by roadrunner
BillyHW
So is our game over after 24 levels? Do we have to input our code online? Unfortunately there's no hi-score table, you've got about 1 second at the end of level 24 to grab your screenshot. I'm using Mugrat.app and luckily I can bind a button on my controller to take a quick screenshot: Edited June 17, 2012 by BillyHW

jblenkle
Maze Maniac - 16,690 Had a slightly higher score, but wasn't fast enought to get the screen shot on my first play through and I'm not even sure what it was 17,000+. So I went to the web page to enter the code only to be told it wasn't a valid code. Edited June 17, 2012 by jblenkle

Ikrananka
Sorry about the short time for screenshots and thus being forced to enter the code online. Hope it doesn't put you off playing a very fun game.
Ikrananka
Which one of you guys is Murph? You're filling up the scoreboard. I believe Murph on the Maze Maniac scoreboard is "Murph74" here on AtariAge.
Murph74
Correct, Ikrananka. Those score are a couple years old now. It was an 'obsession' during a contest the author was running a while back.

jblenkle
You just have to anticipate the game being over after you complete Round 24...then it's fairly easy to get a screenshot even though you only have a few seconds. Sorry about the short time for screenshots and thus being forced to enter the code online. Hope it doesn't put you off playing a very fun game. jblenkle
This game is getting more and more frustrating...I am consistantly in the 19,000-20,000 range, but can't get beyond that. Scoring seems to be based more on luck than skill as things you can use for getting extra points just randomly appear. I've gone several levels in a row with absolutely nothing - no extra lives, 10s or 50s...nothing...then other times virtually everything appears on the same level.
