ClausB
A request: someone please do the SpaceX Starman. I would do it but I haven't tried Rastaconverter yet.
Gunstar
I guess I've been living under a rock! This is the first I'd heard of "Space-X Starman" and went looking...pretty cool! I'll see what I can do.
Gunstar
In the mean time, I'm still looking for good Stargate subject matter, tough to come up with...unless your're just looking for cast portrait images of the movie and series or the Stargate itself. kiwilove
If you're going to do some requests? How about some from the TV series "Dark Matter". Tried doing some but couldn't come up with something worthy enough to post... Just finished viewing "The Orville" - which was watchable - but thought the ship designs were rather wonky - I'd guess they wanted a different look to make them stand out. Drawing new ship designs I thought was always on the easy side - but coming up with stunning new designs is always a hard call to meet. BUT when I saw on the TV channel and it looks like fake , look the background of earth and space. It is not quite right .... I think that's because we don't have a frame of reference. We have never seen a car in space like that, so it looks fake.
ivop
I think that's because we don't have a frame of reference. We have never seen a car in space like that, so it looks fake. Yes, that, and people overestimate our film and photography. If you take a photo of something bright, you won't see the faint stars in the background. If you turn it around, you can see the stars, but the bright object in the front will be severely overexposed. This is also one of the reasons why some people still think the moonlanding(s) were fake.
_The Doctor__
Yes and no, the resolution and detection of the ccd in the cameras are lacking, which I can't comprehend with the expense of all involved you would think that would have been done with the best possible. The windshield on the car is also a mess, crazy again, you would have thought it would be clean. Every time light hits dirty glass from the opposite side you are viewing through it will be a problem. So you just can't fathom with how perfect everything involved is suppose to be, we blow it on the cleanliness of optics and resolution of camera without using any anti-glare, brightness balance technologies. A nice touch would be radio and infrared cameras as well, since it's suppose to orbit around us and mars.... so much data the starman could have collected. Gunstar
You can blame it on 50-60 years worth of "Hollywood" science fiction and how they portray things to both look and sound in space...sound in space? Maybe in a really thick cosmic cloud...and get away from the sun, and suddenly everything is pitch black except for the light you bring with you, distant stars don't give off enough light...but that wouldn't leave much to see and hear in a sci-fi film would it? Harvey dark-matter-tv-series-004.jpg dark-matter-3f9b260518302d255e5.jpg dark-matter-tv-series-001.jpg dark-matter-untitled.png Rasta images are really too low-res to do any good with group portraits or similar, and wide screen shots have to be cropped to 4:3 cutting out half the people or they will look even worse. Same thing with the vertical poster-style stuff. Now the Android and Number chic I think I can pull off. I'm starting to forget cast names, good thing the new season is upon us or nearly... _The Doctor__
You can't hear objects separated in space but you can hear noises in the container and connections themselves, there is no background noise to mask the expansion, contraction, as well as subtle noises of electronic and mechanical apparatus working. Connected cable and braces transmit sound like crazy. No connection between objects means dead silence. Ancillary connections seem louder because of no ambient or white noise. You will hear noise from light and heat and debri from an explosion from a separate container, but you won't hear the explosion itself. So creaks, rattles, and raps, but no ka boom. Geister
Damn, this knocks me out! I'm guessing these are PAL format, because when I load them on Altirra the colors seem off unless I put Altirra in PAL mode. Is it possible to produce these images for an NTSC Atari, or is this a feature of the PAL version only? I'd swear if I touched the bridge picture my hand would come away wet.
kiwilove
Yes - those 2 Dark Matter portraits look really nice... It would be nice if there was a slideshow program that would allow for slideshow viewing of various rasterconverter pics one after another with a smooth transition between them. I've noticed that the picture viewer on the latest TVs are somewhat crap - that they don't allow for enjoyable viewing. It's like they can't be bothered with delivering a nice viewing experience for those who do want to enjoy a slideshow - that they don't even bother having someone to check whether they are delivering a decent product or not? Gunstar
Not sure which is which but the one on the left almost knocks off your Le Mans picture as my favorite. Almost. My pictures are always in order left to right, top to bottom following any list. If the site engine screws up the order of images posted, which does happen, I edit and re-order the list to match. jmccorm
Dark Matter's Android. 23 colors. But... but... *I* wanted to do the Android! So I countered with some effort inside of Photoshop and G2F, and created yet another version of it.
