Left Turn Only World Headquarters is moving!

I'm in the process of moving the Left Turn Only World Headquarters from Arlington, TX to Farmer's Branch, TX. In the meantime, I thought I might share some photos of various neat Intellivision related items that were kicking around the World Headquarters and are either now packed, or will be shortly.

I apologize for the blurry photos. I didn't really take my time snapping them. Still, you get a pretty good idea....

High tech stuff. You must teach me how to make a game, so I can make my own homemade Voltron game :)

Voltron, you should send a robot drone to kidnap intvnut and force him to make Intellivision add-ons in your silo. Then you can spread more cheer this Christmas time by sharing them. :)

In case anyone is wondering what's in that last photo, here's a description, left to right, top to bottom.

  • Boards in bags are JLP Rev 02, used for testing out the firmware, etc. The only differences between Rev 02 and Rev 03 are that the notches get rounded out on Rev 03, and I tie EXT VIDEO to ground. (I had left it open on JLP Rev 02 incorrectly. It causes the TV display to get too bright and sometimes lose sync.)
  • The white shell is an SLS prototype shell of my new shells. SLS stands for Selective Laser Sintering, where they take a laser and melt little balls of plastic together in the shape of my shell one layer at a time. The resulting shell has an interesting texture.
  • The populated board on the lower right is also JLP Rev 02. I manually rounded out the notches a bit with an X-Acto to fit it in my new shells. It worked out quite well.
  • The small rectangular boards are unpopulated JLP programming adaptors. The adaptor allows plugging my MCU programmer cable onto the card-edge on the non-Intellivision edge of JLP.
  • And finally, the boards on the lower right are JLP Rev 01. Rev 01 differs from Rev 02 much more than Rev 02 does from Rev 03. I had a minor freakout shortly after Rev 01 went to fab, where it wasn't clear that some of the pins I routed signals to were 5v tolerant. (Turns out, they probably were.) The datasheet was unclear. So, I did an emergency redesign and moved the signals to different pins that were clearly 5v tolerant. I rewrote the JLP firmware and that's where we are today. I halted production of JLP Rev 01 before the boards got populated, but since the boards were already made, I went ahead and took possession of them, since I had already paid for them anyway.

BTW, I want to give a shout-out to E-TekNet, the board shop I've been building all my product with. They've been excellent working with me and all my craziness. I've built LTO 4-Tris, Space Patrol, all revs of JLP, several adaptors and development boards through them. I can heartily recommend them.
