Space Panic

Your mission: eliminate the Space Monsters by racing your Spaceman along the floors of a giant girder structure. Climb up or down ladders from floor to floor, or leap through the holes for a quick descent, but don't let the Monsters attack your Spaceman! If you should defeat one of the Monster hordes, a more dangerous attack will follow! Can you defeat the Space Monsters before time is up?

281,170 level 51. Get to the high ground, between 2 ladders. Dig a hole on each side of the spaceman. Drop the creatures down, timing it so you hit another below. Sometimes you can drop one down and kill 2. After dropping one, dig that hole again, repeating until all creatures are dead. If one remains, I usually lure it to the top, dig a couple holes that will keep it busy, then dig 4 holes on each level that line up (usually the left side as the creature moves right), climb back to top, wait for final creature, then drop it for maximun points, 1200. They can't change direction between ladders, use that to your advantage.

That is basically the same strategy I have been using. It's amazing how after so many years of not playing this game that when you try it again you totally see it in a new light and recognize something like that. I used to just run around aimlessly trying to line up enough holes to kill the more advanced creatures.

Nice score!! Exact same technique for me. Also if you are trapped in the higher levels dig holes to escape. Sometimes getting to the high ground is problematic and you need to lure the creatures far enough to one side and then run up the other. Also I've experienced creatures who you just can't seem to lure and normally making a hole and dropping them snaps them out of it.

 

Need to go play some more. :)

The new scoring system for Season 6 seems like a litte bit strange, but who cares?

 

Space Panic is a very underrated game - a cross between Dig Dug, Miner 2049er and Donkey Kong - but

many more strategic elements.

 

Whow - the Space Panic winner scored in Season 2 58,570 (chuckwalla), in Season 4 87,570 (duncantoml)

and now 411,470? :-o

 

 

my score so far: 13,300

(my best was 20,650)

Sheesh...

 

Let's see new game for me so 20000-50000 points (if lucky...) so another 4-10 points for me...

(actually I've played a few rounds (without reading the instructions :woozy: ) and have yet to score any points... :P (does 0 points get me a 1 point participation award? :-D ) )

 

I tend to think why bother. NCG is a Coleco game MASTER! :thumbsup:

 

I propose the next game be the worst one for him :grin:
