Kung-Fu Master not emulated properly in Prosystem

This may have been discussed before, but I've not seen anything about it, so I thought I'd mention some emulation issues Prosystem has with Kung-Fu Master.

I never noticed until recently, but the background colors are out of alignment in Prosystem. You can see in the pictures posted below, what the game looks like on real hardware vs. what it looks like emulated. Notice how in emulation, the green at the ceiling does not meet with the brown wooden boards. Also, the yellow floor does not extend toward the bottom like it should. It appears that the entire background is shifted up by several scanlines. Of course those horizontal lines to the left of the score have been criticized before, but I hadn't heard these others issues mentioned.

While Prosystem currently emulates this game the best, (as far as I'm aware), there are still issues. Note: I used screenshots of my graphic hack because it's what I was playing with today, but the issues are the same with the original cart/ROM.

Add this data to the ProSystem.dat file (Open the file in Notepad):

[f57d0af323d4e173fb49ed447f0563d7]
title=Kung Fu Master
type=0
pokey=false
controller1=1
controller2=1
region=0
flags=2;

title=Kung Fu Master
type=0
pokey=false
controller1=1
controller2=1
region=1
flags=0

The graphic issue is an emulation issue, not a palette one.

Same problem is also present in other emulators like Pantheon.

Unfortunately, better emulation of the 7800 is still needed (publicly under Windows).

Edit, whoops...almost forgot to add this: Kung Fu Master (1989) (Absolute) !.zip

P.S. According to this post: http://www.atariage....s/#entry1981842 The two line issue in Kung-Fu Master has been fixed.

Hopefully it fixes the issue mentioned here. I believe a new (public) release of ProSystem under Windows will be distributed with a DevKit after the XM ships.

NICE....http://www.atariage....25#entry1782908

Looks like there are a bunch of fixes already released for the Wii port of Prosystem. I believe those and more should make it (have made it)I especially like the Maria Cycle Timing fixes...Karateka's story scrolling too fast always bothers me.

Perhaps Groovybee could chime in on this. I'd like to know if the background color alignment issue is related to the lines left of the score issue. I suspect it was caused by the same thing, but it would be nice to confirm.

It is the floor,which look weird.And i was not able to fix it..... :(

Maybe you could post an emulator pack which is complete?????

...And which is the latest version of PROSYSTEM?

If you use a slightly different ROM, it will need the MD5 checksum added to your Prosystem.dat file. That checksum must match whatever ROM you're using. An easy way to deal with this is Hashtab. This little program lets you right-click on a file and see various checksum values, such as MD5, CRC32, etc. You'll need the MD5 of a headerless ROM, so to get that, just use a bin or strip the header from an a78.

The first entry in Trebor's post is for the ROM hosted here at AA. "f57d0af323d4e173fb49ed447f0563d7"

If you want to play with the sprite hack, you'll need the entry posted in that thread added to your Prosystem.dat.

The latest Prosystem publicly available is version 1.3e.

Edit: Oh, forgot to mention -- make sure you're dat file is being USED by Prosystem. Go into the Options menu / Emulation / Database, and make sure you select your Prosystem.dat file.
