onlysublime
i'm not sure if it's a one-to-one correlation with real life machines. but it is an interesting topic. lead bullets might be Western Gun/Gun Fight from Taito(JPN)/Midway(NA)
SoulBlazer
Game defentily sounds fun and I plan to get it, but is it worth playing now or wait for the update in March?
onlysublime
well, if people take a wait-and-see approach, there might never been an update in March. I'm pretty sure it will get updated regardless but it's always good to see good developers get rewarded. getting it now still entitles you to the update for free. one of the benefits of XBLIG is the almost hands-off by Microsoft (the cynic would argue abandoned or neglected). XBLIG is completely community-driven. and the developers can update their titles as they see fit. that's why I don't understand why there isn't more interest from game fans. it's the closest to a true indie scene. Even Steam and Android are more managed than XBLIG. FarSight is still begging people to help get The Pinball Arcade onto Steam. The developer's other game is a fantastic modern Defender-like game and he did some cross-promotion. If you get Orbitron, you get a code that'll unlock that cabinet in ArcadeCraft. I see the indie developers complain that XBLIG doesn't get promoted by Microsoft on the dashboard and Microsoft doesn't try to sell people on the concept of XBLIG. But I think it's fair considering how hands-off Microsoft is to the whole thing. Because let's face it. XBLIG mainly serves 2 purposes for Microsoft: 1) to try to develop new developers in the Microsoft ecosystem for programming. Using Microsoft development tools to develop skills that can be applied to Xbox software as well as Windows and Windows Phone software. 2) getting some good will that the XBLIG is the closest thing to an open console platform. The problem is, not many people know about XBLIG and the people that have dabbled have had to sift through a bunch of bad games to see the great games out there. Xot
Haven't played the game but some of these seem pretty obvious... ------------------------------- Forti = Atari ------------------------------- Space Rocks = Asteroids Lunar Module = Lunar Lander ICBM Wars = Missile Command Crawlers = Centipede Creepers = Millipede Volt Storm = Battle Seige (Cocktail) = Warlords ------------------------------- Neutral ------------------------------- Phantom = Lady Phantom = Space Insects = Galaxian? Solar Insects = Galaga Pumper = If Phantom and Lady Phantom are indeed Pac/Ms. Pac, the company would likely be Namco and Pumper would most likely be Dig Dug. Most Namco games were distributed either by Midway or Atari in the states. ------------------------------- Millions = Williams ------------------------------- Protectian = Defender Protectian 2 = Stargate Cybroids 1999 = Obviously Robotron 2084. The pic above bears this out. ------------------------------- Camping ------------------------------- Paint Trace (Cocktail) = Crush Roller/Make Trax Ultra Dragon Fly = Gecko Run (Cocktail) = Frogger Future Ace = Time Pilot? I think this is Konami and that would mean Paint Trace = Amidar.. ------------------------------- Not sure of the manufacturer ------------------------------- Angry Star = Sinistar Lunar Crescent = Cheese Police = Mousetrap? Taxiom = Cheese Police sounds like Mappy to me..

antster1983
Sorry, it seems there were a lot of machines in the game, but that's all the game cabinets in the game, including those in Content Update 1.
Taskmaster99
Just downloaded this and took a run at it. Lets just say that I suck as an arcade owner!!!! Very addicting though. Just gonna keep at it until I figure out my best strategy. Anybody have any tips that can help this crappy businessman out??
onlysublime
be aggressive and fast. kick out bad players before they damage multiple machines. DON'T EMPTY MACHINES UNTIL COMPLETELY FULL. MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. group machines that are part of the same series. be aggressive at expansion until just a few months from deadline and then just collect money. don't waste money on aesthetics until after the loan is paid off. cimerians
how do you find out about XBLIG sales? i've never seen XBLIG sales advertised... I think Major Nelson tweeted it. Just follow him, he always posts cool stuff. Windows 8, Windows phone, Xbox...and even things sometimes not related to Xbox.
MrMaddog
I love this game... I'm even tempted to get Game Room and have an arcade to play simuliar cabinets using my avatar (Though it's only Atari & Konami arcade games...)
Metal Ghost
Just checking....so is this an XBLA title? Or XBLIG? I may need to check this out!
+wongojack
Just checking....so is this an XBLA title? Or XBLIG? I may need to check this out! It's an Indie game, and its cheap. I'm not sure if the PC version was ever released, but mouse and keyboard would be a slight improvement here (if you are wondering which platform to choose). Commenting on early posts - I thought Wave was Sega
Tickled_Pink
Bought it a while back. Firebase are probably my favourite XBLIG developers. I've got their Orbitron Revolution as well. Both games are well worth playing.
SoulBlazer
Bumping this old thread cause the game is now available on Steam. I picked it up this weekend thanks to a sale that Humble Bundle was having (they provide both download versions and the Steam key, so I've been playing it on Steam) for $8. Yes, the game is more expensive, but there's some pluses with this new version: 1) The game has been easier. In fact, a patch for it was just released last week, tweaking some settings. 2) Different games are available at different times (for example, a sports game is now available right at game start). 3) Games are released in 1986 now, including the import offer. 4) Achievements -- only 6, but easy to get. I played it quite a lot over the last couple days. My first two games were failures due to not being able to pay back the loan, but in the third try I was able to get it. Honestly, once you repay the loan at the end of 1981, the game gets easy at that point and just become smooth sailing. I had no problem keeping the arcade at max stars allowed for that year, and finished in January of 1987 at about $400k. Not a huge amount, but not bad. I like the game, but there's some micromanaging parts that annoy me. Like, the person you hire to empty out the machines is slow as all hell, and I constantly had to go and empty them out myself. Also, the 'rage gamer' was annoying. If the game gets expanded -- and it might be, now that it's on Steam -- I'd love to see it get bigger and better. Larger arcade, going into the 1990's, able to hire more staff, and getting more games. Does anyone have a guide as to which games are sequels, and which ones do well when placed near each other? I saw some sequels, but others I had no idea off until years later, when I realized the older game was long gone. And due to all the changes, the help will need to be rewritten for the Steam version. SoulBlazer
Update -- I've started playing the game again. Using the list provided in earlier replies by several members, I'm working to expand and update that list to have all the games and companies, the date the game comes out, and if they are related to another game (so you know to keep those). This includes all new games added for the PC release. When done I will post this in a new topic in the Modern Gaming area so that it gets more noticed.
