MarkO
This is a Concept for taking Magazine articles that have been Scanned with OCR processing and copying the Programs out of them and entering them into you desired Computer System.. So, I am thinking about Apple ][ Game Software, with Double Hi-Res ( Apple //e 128K, Apple //c or Apple ][gs ). Doing some research, found some articles in Compute!, for Chrome ( Oct-1987, pg 66 and Nov-1987, pg 89), I have PDF's of Compute!. Want to enter the Machine Language Programs, can't find them Online anywhere ( I have look a lot, but I don't have "that much" time in life ). Try Copying the Text from the PDF, Acrobat Reader messes up during the Translation from PDF to the ClipBoard.. Notice that Compute! programs have Check-Sums, and Programs to Check as you Type them in... This gets me thinking...... Make a Java based Application, that has Configurable "filters" to let you enter Check-Summed Data, and let it Validate that Data and Save it to a file.. So for the above program, I need to Select a Filter for Compute!, for Apple Machine Language ( ML ), copy the ML Text from the PDF, and Paste into the Java App.. It Parses the Apple ML, correcting the Line Numbers, Processes the Line, and Check-Sum and Validates, if it fails, tries Alternate Values ( Zero instead of Eight, Eights instead of 'B', and so on ) and retries the Validations, until it gets a PASS.. Save the File in Text, for transfer to the Apple.. Compute! seems to have a Machine Language Entry Program for Atari, Commodore, Apple and IBM, also some "system" for BASIC too... I would assume that other Magazines have a similar System. This could help get the Computer Programs in all the publications to a Target Machine readable form...
