Atari Joe
Is anyone here in S.P.A.C.E. ? It is the St. Paul Atari Computer Enthusiasts. They got like a newsletter they send out every motn and also a Disc of the Month club for like 3 dollars you get a 5 and a quarter filled with some slick PD shay-ot. I hear they are a strange bunch tho anyone know what their deal is and how I get to join? Joe
+davidcalgary29
I've been saving my pennies to join SPACE. They're certainly one of the more active clubs and accept out-of-state and international members. I do believe that their membership is $30 per year. RJ
So, the "Mighty" Joe is back again, eh? I'll help rather than harrass this time... I was a member in good standing of S.P.A.C.E. for quite awhile. The DOMs are supposed to be quite good but the newsletters are severely lacking in content. They've posted them monthly to the website but last time I looked their latest was last November. The actual club meetings were something else- almost no talk of Atari hardware, software, games, etc. Mostly discussion of club bylaws & when the next potluck party would be & who'd bring what. The one time I tried to stir a discussion, I was shot down. Besides the occasional auctions, the meetings became so excruciatingly dull that I quit- it just wasn't worth my time anymore & have since fallen out of touch w/ them. A game night, show-&-tell of favorite Atari items, ANYTHING would've been welcome. They just didn't seem intent on talking Atari. If you do join, mention this post to them...I didn't have the heart. http://space.atari.org If they are such "a strange bunch" as you say, you'll fit right in.
