+Gemintronic
Had a repaired 360 do the usual RROD thing again. What's the least expensive option in the long run? A. Fix it again? B. Buy new newer (yet used) model - and if so, which ones start to not have RROD? C. Wait for the very latest model that looks like a shrinky dink Xbox One? RodLightning
To address option B. The Jasper motherboards from late 2008 thru 2009 were supposedly the first "fixed" versions. The Xbox 360 'Arcade' systems were mostly Jaser motherboards. Linked below is a handy chart to 360 versions, at least thru 2011. http://team-xecuter....pdated-Dec-2011 Edited June 28, 2013 by RodLightning
JamesD
I think the slim models have pretty well solved the problem. They run cooler and are quieter than the original style. Go with at least one of them, then there is no worries over what board you have. I have yet to see the new shrinky dink in a store around here. cimerians
Option B, I'd probably get a slim as I tend to trust mine more than the my two older models.
xenomorpher
You can get reballed systems on eBay pretty cheap from decent sellers. I'm going to get one eventually to replace mine and maybe put a case fan mod on it too.
Robocop2
My Jasper was rock solid. Never a bit of trouble with it. I did upgrade to a Slim just because I liked the design and the color fit better with my other equipment. The slim is also much quieter. RevEng
After a couple of years my Jasper went RROD. I'd go Slim, if anything.
Austin
Slim. It's the only [worthwhile] way to go.
+Gemintronic
Sounds like the slim might be the way to go. Thanks guys!
