Salamander
sorry. I failed to say that I've seen most emulators' readme files saying it could be done, & yet, they didn't describe how to do so. that's why I need some help on doing this. if it could be done on a cd-r disc, they sure didn't say so. btw, the gamecube uses mini discs on most of their games
goldenegg
You need to mod your GameCube in order to do that. You're better off with the SD card solution and run the emulators off a card instead.
Salamander
My gamecube is modded. Do I have to use cd-r mini discs to burn emulators?
goldenegg
You should use mini DVD-R disks.
OldSchoolRetroGamer
My gamecube is modded. Do I have to use cd-r mini discs to burn emulators? You use mini DVD-r OR you get a replacement lid that allows use of full size DVD-r, as a last resort you could remove the cover entirely to boot full size DVD-r. Salamander
so i don't use a mini DVD-RW, right? cause that's what I've been using
goldenegg
I can't say for certain whether the system can read RW media. EDIT: Also, it should be noted that the GameCube can be very finicky with recordable media in general. I've come across several systems which wouldn't read any recordable media. A couple of those systems were made to read recordable media by adjusting the laser, but I own a system where even that doesn't help. OldSchoolRetroGamer
so i don't use a mini DVD-RW, right? cause that's what I've been using In general systems that can boot from record-able media prefer CD-r or DVD-r are recommended for best results. Meaning if the optical drive was made for CD media than use CD-r if it primarily used DVD media use DVD-r. OldSchoolRetroGamer
i'll think i'll try the cd-r mini discs 1st. thanks Er, for gamecube you mean DVD-r right? All my backups are full sized and mini DVD-r. If you do mean CD-r let me know if that works for you............... This thread seems to confirm DVD-r or mini DVD-r........ http://128bit.me/ind...p?topic=25062.0 As does THIS thread: Step 2: Here you have 2 options. You can either buy some blank Mini-DVD's (recommended) from you favorite store or online retailer, OR you can buy a replacement top for your GC and use Standard DVD-R (Note it MUST beDVD-R not +R, +RW or -RW). http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/292668 Edited July 25, 2013 by OldSchoolRetroGamer

toptenmaterial
Hi, I'd like to bump this. I'm picking up a GameCube with some mods. I'm wondering if anyone has had good luck getting emulators to run smoothly. Please let me know about your experiences.
