Mitkraft
I've bought many DVD's on eBay, yesterday I received my first counterfeit/bootleg copy... it kind of ticked me off. No security seals, a couple of small glitches during play and my computer tells me it's a ripped copy. Oh well, now I know why they were selling for only $7.99! Being so cheap it was not worth the hassle of messing with, but I took the courtesy anyway of informing the seller in case he was unaware. What happened next surprised me, no questions asked, he cancelled the order and refunded my money. Hmm, that's suspicious... so I checked his feedback, apparently other people have noted that they have received bootlegged copies as well. Don't think for one second that those people don't know good and well they are selling bootlegged copies. That's why they refunded your money so fast. I recently bought a new version of Quicken off eBay that was listed as brand new. Although stated that it didn't come with a box I assumed it would at least be a legit CD. What I got was a home burned CD with a printed label and some "receipt" from quicken that mentioned volume license except referred to TurboTax and not Quicken. I told the seller in no uncertain terms that there was no way I was trusting my financial data with a copy of quicken who's pedigree I couldn't verify. He insisted it was legit and I told him that unless he could provide me with a CD from Intuit or a link to download the copy from them then I wanted a refund. He said he'd give me one but when he didn't after a few days I filed an "item not as described". I also reported it to Quicken via a form on their website.
Sinphaltimus
Start packing in a few hours - It's off to X-Day XX - http://www.subgenius.com/bigfist/fun/devivals/20XDay/20X-Day.htmlI never did get to refine my Musick program for this but that no longer matters. Hope to get some recordings and video of the "show" including my TI console plugged in to some effect pedals. Accompanying me will be the speech synth and FR99 - not bringing my moded so CRT it is. If all fails miserably (again) I'll be back in action around July8th. TTFN! else, THE WORLD ENDS TOMORROW AND YOU MAY DIE!

PeBo
Using the off-topic thread to wish Canadian forum folk a Happy Canada Day (eh), American forum folk a Happy July 4th, and get a jump on our euro-french friends by wishing them une bonne fête nationale a couple weeks in advance (which I should have wished our québécois friends last week - although I was there wishing everyone the same in person.) Sorry if I missed anyone, but if we all celebrated our national holidays on May 1st like most of the world, it would make it easier for my feeble geriatric brain to keep track! Or maybe not. We're mostly making it a quiet weekend here in the Ozarks- the company I work for doesn't have the 3rd as a holiday and I didn't feel the need to burn a vacation day for it. I'm doing steaks tonight, but the biggest plans we have are to go on our bi-weekly grocery shopping trip and do housecleaning. I also told my wife that I was going to start an Excel spreadsheet with my cartridge catalog- this will help me determine what carts i need to start looking for. mwhahaha
PeBo
Grocery Shopping got done this morning. Promises were also made that windows and kitchen floors would be addressed. Unfortunately I turned on the 4A, so a promises were rescheduled until tomorrow (btw if you havent tried Paul Pichette's "TAFARA" give it a try....an exceptional centipede clone that kept me going until my hand could take no more. Now though, it's an evening with Vin as we microwave up some popcorn for The Fate of the Furious (I will undoubtedly hear about the state of the floor throughout the popcorn preparation)

I have every other Friday off and last Friday was an off day so I'm taking vacation on Monday and making a 5 day weekend out of it.

If all fails miserably (again) I'll be back in action around July8th. TTFN! else, THE WORLD ENDS TOMORROW AND YOU MAY DIE! Well I survived X-day 20 and have returned home drying out camping gear and sorting everything to pack away until next time. The TI held up nicely, decided to bring the nanoPEB as well. Which was a good thing. I never did get a photo of the setup but my MUSICK program and a speech script I wrote while there served as great background noise with the other performances. The TI also played a major part in Subgenius Lore evolution. With new puzzling evidence introduced during this past X-Day I used the TI to disseminate all the new data and included it into the current mysteries that have developed. I don't want to give up too much info here and now. I'll wait for Rev. Ivan Stang to edit and put together an official report. It seemed a great way to expose the TI to a generation of SubGeeze as I announced I had to go back to a 1980s era computer made it Texas (Birthplace of the Church of the Subgenius) to decipher data from 1998 (prophesied year for the end of the world) in 2017 (year of X-day 20). My breaking news story may actually appear in a documentary that was being filmed at the time for inclusion in the Sundance film festival. Have to go and sort all my camping gear now. But I'm back. And will be pretty busy sorting my basement and getting ready for a Big party at my house in August. so may not be working on any projects for a bit. We shall see how that goes as my project anxiety slowly creeps in..... EDIT : on a side note, the TI wasn't the only old computer to show up at X-day - Edited July 8, 2017 by Sinphaltimus

Sinphaltimus
Well, I got my A500+ vampire installed with ApolloOS and could not be happier with my little Amiga. It's the only thing powerful enough to pull me away from the finalGrom99 at the moment. No worries, I can share my time. Any of you have the Apollo Vampire card? Are you as excited over this thing as I am? never imagined my meager little A500 beiul enough to do all the things on it I wish i could have back in the day. +mizapf
Just for your information, I'll be away from keyboard until Aug 25 for a trip to Mongolia. They said there is no guarantee for Internet access in the Ger camps ... so this is going to be like the good old vacations where you probably considered writing post cards. If you found some time, that is.
