Stuart
HELP. Yeah, I forgot all my electronics training from HS and I can't seem to understand things I'm searching for. Use it or lose it they say. they are correct. I purchase a box of assorted LEDs and misread the labels when i ordered. I thought I was ordering assorted 3v and 6v LEDS but that's not the case. all the LEDs are max ratings of 2.2V or 3.2V when i actually needed 5V LEDs so I'm trying to figure out how to lower the voltage from 5V to 3V in-line. I thought this might be the solution but they are talking current and not voltage, I'm unsure of the current I'm dealing with. http://www.instructables.com/topics/How-to-change-5v-into-3v-using-only-resistors/ Use this: http://led.linear1.org/1led.wiz (which is linked to from that link you provided). There are three numbers involved: (1) The voltage you're driving the LED from. So this is 5V if you're connecting the LED + series resistor across a 5V power supply. (2) The forward voltage of the LED - this is your 2.2V or 3.3V. (3) The current through the LED - you can get this from the LED datasheet but 20mA is usually an approx. value. The higher the current the brighter the LED. For a 5V supply, you'll probably need a resistor in the range 100 - 300 Ohms approx. An alternative way to do it is to get a 'resistor selection pack' that covers that range, and starting with a 300 Ohm resistor try consecutively lower values until the LED achieves the brightness you want. You may find that the resistor value recommended by a 'series resistor calculator' is either too bright or not bright enough anyway, and you want to nudge up or down to the next resistor value.
Sinphaltimus
Thanks Stuart, with this and another answer I got in a private msgf I'm sure to make it work. next time I'll be more careful with the kind of LEDs I order.I do actually have a pack of the correct ones but they are all white, I needed 3 different colors (all not white) and in my haste ordered the wrong ones.I'm sure I'll use these more often now that I know what to do with them. +OLD CS1
I have always been naughty and not done the maths, just thrown a 1k resistor on my LEDs.
Omega-TI
Since this is the 'dumping forum', I'm gonna dump some frustration... Why is it, everytime you buy a Korean movie or series it turns out being a frikken bootleg recorded off of a KBS affiliate or some other TV station? You get advertising, station ID's and sometimes even breaking news scrolling across the bottom of the screen. This is the third time (in a row) this has happened. I'm beginning to think there is no way to get a legitimate copy of anything out of Asia.

At least this one appears to comes with the expansion system for the price.
digdugnate
score! my aunt was going through stuff of my grandparents' and she sent me some pics of disk stuff asking if i wanted it. the answer, of course, was a resounding YES! here's a pic of a couple of the disks, one of i recognize my dad's handwriting. I'll post some pics after she mails the stuff to me. Edited February 17, 2018 by digdugnate

digdugnate
im not even sure what the heck all is there, either, lol. she just said it was 'several boxes of TI disks' and a box or two of Commodore 64 stuff. itll be neat to see what all it is and then if any of it will still read!

+OLD CS1
that is something i learned early on to have a successful marriage is knowing when to not engage. I will fail at this. I have a deep compulsion for fact irrespective of feelings in particular in defense of myself. I do not see being right and being happy as mutually exclusive. marc.hull
Meh, amateur. I have cleared out houses before. Could easily empty a theater. Hmmmmm. Novice farter. I once cleared out a beer bar in Brookings with a strategic crop dusting. Last girl to leave told me I was ripe. Married her right away. +Ksarul
I let a strategic string of green bombs loose in my bedroom as I was getting ready to crash out one night. My ex came into the room about 30 minutes later. Her face turned a wonderful shade of green as she started choking and gasping--then she opened my wall locker and pulled out the gas mask to put it on. She was afraid to take it off for the rest of the night. . .and forbade me to ever eat kidney beans, Brussels sprouts, and hard boiled eggs on the same day for as long as we remained together. marc.hull
Ok since the shits flying.... Last time I got the loud, rank and fully automatic, my wife asked if I had shit in the bed. I Said, "no."
Retrospect
I once fainted after a particularly loud fart. I didn't know it was possible TO faint from farting but I found that one out for myself. It wasn't any ordinary fart though. Sounded like a V8 with cherrybomb exhaust.
