Vocelli
~ WEEK 25 ~ Super Breakout (Games 5 & 7 combined) CLARIFICATION: No use of CHEATS, emulation advantages, bugs, cart frying or other variables that gives you an unfair advantage is allowed in this HSC. Before you even consider using such non-sense a PM must be sent to me, the Moderator, to ask for clarification on any such advantage or rules and if any of the above variables are allowed. So assume you cannot use any of the above variables to play in the 2600 HSC until you are given authorization to do so by me, your humble yet strict MODERATOR! Super Breakout (Games 5 AND 7 combined) Released By: Atari Left Difficulty: B Right Difficulty: B Game Mode: Games 5 AND 7 COMBINED When posting please state what game you played. 5 OR 7. Post your scores right here in this thread, and I will add them to the list. Remember to play the game with the recommended game mode and difficulty settings as shown above so that your scores will be consistent with everyone else. The deadline for posting scores is Midnight the evening of November 3, 2013 Scoring during this week You will take your score on Game 5 and add it to your score on Game 7. THAT IS YOUR SCORE! (example : score 602 on Game 5 and then 399 on Game 7 … your score for the week is 1001) PLEASE STATE WHAT GAME YOU ARE PLAYING WHEN POSTING. You MUST post a score on both games to qualify. Bonus Now that you can add two scores (2nd grade math), lets subtract them (still 2nd grade math). What’s the Difference? Lowest Difference Must score over 3,000 COMBINED (that is game 5 + game 7 = 3000+) to Qualify for this bonus. Then Subtract the two scores from each other. (example score 602 on Game 5 and then score 399 on Game 7 is a difference of 203 and scores you NO BONUS POINTS! WHY? Not enough points scored. Just testing you… OK. Scoring 1725 on Game 5 and then scoring on 1425 on Game 7 give you a ‘bonus score’ of 300… the lower the ‘bonus score’ the better.) 1-5 Place Players with the lowest difference = 3 bonus points 6-15 place = 2 bonus points 16-25 = 1 bonus point. LidLikesIntellivision
Combined scores must total at least 3,000 or did you know that already and I missed a joke? Ouch. I was too fast and forgot the rules. Let's try and make a 1500 +1500 or so. --- I failed twice... reading fast and forgoting rules and now I can't make 1500 in game 5... Better return to GI Joe and play Super Brakeout later.

karokoenig
Getting on the board for now. Game 5: 905 Game 7: 1,075. Love this game! And it works really well with mouse control. Much better than Cobra Strike. So no complaints there. All the bad scores I'll post are entirely a result of my own incompetence

Zoyx
Game 5 - 883 Game 7 - 1015 Total - 1898 Using Stella with a Stelladapter. Took awhile to get the paddles to work well with Windows, but I think I got it close. Edit: Looked up my teenager high scores from the early 80s. Game 5 = 4612. Game 7 = 2961. I have a ways to go before I achieve past glory. Edited October 28, 2013 by Zoyx
LidLikesIntellivision
I could only improve game 7. 1,467 Thus, getting 2,685 2,685 = 1,218 + 1,467 I don't work today! But still not much time to play these days... Let's wait until next weekend.
karokoenig
Yay! Finally I can get counted for the bonus. Took me only about 2,5 hours of trying, cursing, and enjoying this addictive game. Especially game 7. Game 5: 1,328 Game 7: 1,686 Total: 3,014 Bonus difference: 358. ...Yes, it was damn close. I knew exactly how many points I needed to break the 3k threshold, and damn, I got nervous when the damn ball zipped past those last few tiles like 30 times before it finally hit something. I am rather proud of the fact that I beat Arkanoid on C64 in one go without cheats back in the day. Next time I play Arkanoid, however, I'm going to suck badly. I'm used to the Super Breakout "physics" now.

karokoenig
Karokoenig, Keilbaca, and Darthkur (belated), for breaking 300 overall Gorfy, for breaking wind With your current Super Breakout scores - and especially the awesome bonus difference - you're not only going to break wind this week, but rather break the 500 overall. Not too shabby, I'd say. (edit): Oh, and S.Baz as well: broke the 500 threshold last week. Nicely done. You guys are tough players. One little Game 5 tip: make the multiballs count. When two balls are in play, every tile scores double. So it does pay off to keep two - or even three - balls in play for a while. I guess it's mentioned in the manual, but I didn't bother to check yet. So my apologies to all the less lazy people who already knew this detail.
