AtariLynx Lover
Hello all, I'm starting up a new magazine called Up-Down-Left-Right. It will feature: Really big articles on video game consoles. Reviews of both modern and classic games. News regarding homebrews for classic systems. Previews of games for every console imaginable - TurboGrafx-16 to Sega Dreamcast to Nintendo 3DS to Sony PlayStation 4. And More! We're receptive to interviews (with anybody even vaguely important to the industry. That includes homebrew developers at the AtariAge community) and advertising - though minimal and it will probably have to be fairly likeable. Issue One will feature such articles as: The Mega Drive Turns 25 - We Celebrate the Console That Kicked Off the 16-Bit Console War Microconsole: Ouya and GameStick - Our Verdict N3DS - Big Success And More! Up-Down-Left-Right will also have unique columns and stories, such as: Decode This! - Reverse Alphabet, Morse, and ADFGX Enciphered Messages for the Puzzle-Solving Gamer An Alternate History of Video Games - Something A Bit Different From What You're Used To And More! However, we don't have any big names. In fact, it is (literally) impossible for you to have heard of any of us before. That means we have an unproven track record - a major risk. We want to alleviate these concerns: As such, the first three issues will be offered FREE as pdf downloads via this website or an other venue, or as a download from Magcloud. The magazine will be sold through Magcloud and updates on progress can be found at the Twitter account Terry93D. (it is public, so you don't have to sign up if you don't want to) This thread will be used for updates and news on the magazine at the AtariAge community. At present time, we're looking for letters for the (criminally) blank Letters section. To submit letters, do so via email to updownleftrightmagazine@gmail.com OR by posting on this thread. Subject line: 'Letter'. Make sure you leave a signature, otherwise (should your letter be printed) you will be credited as one of the all time worst or most obscure video game characters ever. Thank you for listening this far through my tirade. I hope that you will read the free digital issues and maybe even buy the print issues. ---Terry Fairchild aka AtariLynx Lover, Editor-in-Chief for Edited November 20, 2013 by AtariLynx Lover
AtariLynx Lover
The cover - as you can see, the first issue's cover story is dedicated to the Mega Drive's 25th Anniversary. Yep, alternate history. To read the rest of Part One, buy the full issue in print or download the full issue FREE when Issue 001 is released... Coming soon.

+orpheuswaking
Looks very interesting. What will the estimated print price be? I would love to see an article on the history of Flight Simulator Software.
AtariLynx Lover
Looks very interesting. What will the estimated print price be? I would love to see an article on the history of Flight Simulator Software. The price point for the print is likely going to be around $10-$15 US bucks, depending on how much content the issue has. An article of flight simulator software? I shall put that under consideration. Thanks for the feedback and ideas, ---Terry Fairchild aka AtariLynx Lover, Editor-in-Chief of Up-Down-Left-Right

Cool, I'm always interested in "what-ifs" in the history of video gaming like Atari or Sega doing better than Nintendo. I tried to do something like that for RTM but it was a disaster. (Protip: Don't write articles at 5 in the morning after working 3rd shift) I got some ideas in that department if you need them... AtariLynx Lover
Crunch time! December 5th is the deadline for all content on the zeroeth issue. From there it's polishing, spell-checking, double-triple-checking three times, and then issue Zero will come!
