+SvOlli
Hello, I'm working on a port of Stella for the OpenPandora. Not the cheapest, but definitely one of the coolest ways to get a portable 2600. To get it more to a crowd pleaser, I want to include the option to download and unpack one (or even maybe more) 2600 ROM pack(s). The first one that came to my mind was the one from ROM Hunter of AtariMania. I asked him for permission one and a half days ago, no reply yet. So now I'm looking for alternatives, since I want to release a new version with this option included. Looking up the net with a search engine I found some, but most of them are stored on javascript-y one-click hosters, that can't be downloaded easily with the command line tool wget, I'm using for this. Any suggestions on where to look and who to contact for permission? Greetings, SvOlli
Thomas Jentzsch
1,5 days without reply doesn't indicate a NO to me. Maybe you should just wait a little more.

+SvOlli
1,5 days without reply doesn't indicate a NO to me. Maybe you should just wait a little more. I wasn't indicating something like this, but since I want to push out the next release I was looking for alternatives. I also want to rev up also a scene demos rom pack. You can use my V9.0 ROM collection if you want: http://www.atarimania.com/rom_collection_archive_atari_2600_roms.html This was the one I wanted to use in the first place. Thanks! So my mail probably got in some kind of spam filter... Edit: Rom Hunter, what is the best directory to use as a staring point? I was going for "Roms/HARMONY CART ROMS/ROMS SORTED BY ALBHABET", as "Roms/ROMS" has a lot entries and takes up several seconds to scan. Rom Hunter
IMO the Harmony Cart ROMs sorted by alphabet is the most user friendly for your purpose.
+SvOlli
Back again. ROM Hunter's pack is added. I also created one containing all demos available at pouet.net's Atari VCS section. That pack's available at http://svolli.de/atari2600/openpandora/. The only thing that's still missing is a nice ROM pack containing the finest homebrew and hacked titles. Anyone already did one of those?
Rom Hunter
Ask Impaler_26. He took over my hacks & homebrews collection several years ago.

Just keep in mind that it's by far not up to date so you'll have to get most hacks/homebrews from the last 4 years from somewhere else. +SvOlli
Thanks. A question arose on the OpenPandora forum: what's the legal status of the ROM dumps/packs on the VCS in general? Scene demos are free of cause, but what about the rest?
Mr SQL
Most programmers and software companies have no objection to people enjoying their games from back in the day; OpenPandora should find another box
