adamchevy
I have been looking at buying a Sony Bvm-20E1U or PVM-20L5. Its hard to pull the trigger on an old 20" CRT that costs 500$ or more. Do they make that much of a difference ?
adolescent
I don't have the model you're looking for but I would say yes, the PVM are worth it . Really good picture, loads of inputs, etc. I would say keep watching for a cheaper one to become available. I got my PVM-2959Q for $140 and I've seen them cheaper since.
adolescent
Doh. Looks like the 20L5 is a much more capable monitor. Sorry for not adding any value to your thread. I would still hold out for something cheaper. Keep in mind that these monitors are near 10 years old. (Mine is more like 15.)

It gives me hope that I might find one for less than the ridiculous eBay prices I'm seeing right now. Also, that I'm not crazy for wanting one of these old CRTs . Also, that I'm not crazy for wanting one of these old CRTs .Why not just get a nice Sony consumer HDTV with super fine pitch? Even the normal Sony televisions at the end of the CRT era were exceptionally nice. Take a look at this list ranging from nicest to basic. Either way, you're getting a nice Trinitron CRT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FD_Trinitron/WEGA Edited July 19, 2014 by fibrewire
