Pandora Handheld

After 4 years, I finally got my pre-ordered Pandora handheld this week.

After the the debacle of their manufacturing process delays, and the fact I had to pay even more just to get one to show up, looking at it just makes me mad.

I don't even want to power the thing up. So for now it is still brand new. The box does not come sealed, hence the pictures of the still-wrapped device with the open box.

Also got a carry case with it as well, which is also still in the wrapper.

This is the 'Classic' 600MHz model.

Open to offers, I'll probably finally get around to putting this on eBay soon.

I see this topic and I feel sad. My buddy and co-podcaster Gamester81 very famously waited years, paid extra and ultimately had the same reaction as you when he finally got his Pandora. Definitely a warning to people who want to back these kind of projects.

Agreed. I was also very excited about the Pandora. Even with delays I was still interested for a few more years, but life and technology move on. For me the Raspberry Pi was the nail in the coffin. I could do far more with the RPi and it only cost $35.

Interesting. I just checked it out and it looks like there is quite a few people in my position. At least Ed (no problem with him at all) is offering the Pyra at cost for people that never got a Pandora

Did you not get his offer to get the Classic Pandora from him for a -slightly- discounted price? (Not that it made the deal any better...)

Yeah I did but by that point the specs didn't add up to the price. Plus there was no way I was going to pay even more money on top of what I already paid years earlier.

Honestly though I am intrigued by this new unit. If it can full speed emulate DC and maybe even do something with PS2 that would be interesting. I like the socketed CPU too.

Heh I got lucky on this whole "Order my awesome console!" debacle. My wife pre-ordered it for my birthday that year. EvilDragon bounced the payment back to her since it was a week early(apparently the pre-order site took the order before it was supposed to) so she told me about it instead. Happy Birthday!

I told her I already had a GP2X and a modded PSP so I didn't need it - we should buy heating oil instead. I figured I could grab one after they came out and no worries. She was happy and we were warm. :)

Now having said that I have had one in my hands and it is light years beyond the GP2X. I really liked it. I would have purchased one already if I didn't have the other consoles I mentioned. That ... and I blew my spending money for all of last year in one shot. I purchased an MSI GT70 Dominator and that gets a ton of use. :)
