mbd30
My old 2.5ghz Pentium Dual Core is toast, so I recently got a new PC with an i5 3.10 ghz Quad CPU. Man, BSNES version .087 32-bit flies on this thing. Even if I run two simultaneous instances of Yoshi's Island with HQ2X enabled, I still get 60fps on the rotating title screen. The only game I've tried that drops framerate at all with HQ2X enabled is the Japanese chess-like Shougi 2, because it contains a co-processor for the AI that is the most demanding thing that BSNES emulates. But I still get full 60 fps without filters or with LQ2X. Even the more demanding accuracy core runs fine with most games without using HQ2X. And it's worthwhile for one game: ASP Air Strike Patrol. Yes, it takes a 3ghz PC to do the shadow under your plane, because of how it renders the graphics. I tried it, and it isn't that much fun, even with the shadow and full 60fps. And this is a $500 mainstream desktop PC. Nobody can accuse BSNES of being too slow anymore.
