INTV Best Game of All Times - Round 1 - 14/25 (ECS/Music)

This is one of the pools to vote the best games ever for Intellivision :-)

There will be several pools of 5 titles each to cover the following categories:

 

- Best game of all time

- Best sport game

- Best shoot'em up

- Best arcade conversion

- Best producer

Not many people own those games, sice you need additional module, but in fact couple of those games are so good they can compete for real in the overall.

I confess that I haven't given the ECS games nearly as much gameplay time as the mainline titles. (Has anyone?) But I had to give WSMLB the nod due to it's sheer innovation. So many truly groundbreaking innovations in one game. I get the impression that virtually all modern-day baseball simulators could trace their lineage to this game. Is that an overstatement?

 

When I saw the ad for that game on TV I nearly passed out in amazement. It still impresses me.

I'm with Steve on this one. Some of the others are good, solid games but World Series was absolutely groundbreaking looking back.

I definitely went with WS Baseball - while I didn't own the ECS as a kid, my cousin borrowed it along with WS Baseball from a friend of his down the block and I got to play several games of this back in the day. The combination of graphics, sounds, statistics, everything just really impressed me at the time! It was good to begin with but I was like 10 or 11 - to me it was damn excellent!

IntellivisionDude, thanks for bringing up Mind Strike - its been a really long time but that is a type of strategy game that I'm sure I would really enjoy. I liked checkers and chess way back and sure I would love this - regret that haven't played it in forever - in due time. Honorable mention to Melody Blaster for me - I never had as a kid but I picked up a NEW CIB Keyboard several years ago and cracked the shrinkwrap on my Melody Blaster to test the Keyboard and try the game at the same time. I was impressed like 5 years ago - considering when this thing came out it really was ahead of its time and quite impressive. Thanks David for adding another title (Flintstones Keyboard Fun) for this unit!

Same situation as Steve and Cmart, unfortunately I have not given enough time to the ECS games.

 

I also voted for the 3rd crown in the Baseball trilogy for the Intellivision. As mentioned above, WSMLB is so groundbreaking and influential that it will be difficult to oversee it.

It was absolutely an incredible simulation as many aspects of gameplay were added. This was truly an impressive game.

Don't have WSMLB in my collection so my vote goes to Melody Blaster, without whom even guitars would sound less... "heroic"! (I just realized I don't have this one either among my games but never mind, I stick to my decision! )
