I had no idea about this. For anyone else clueless like me just go here and login with your Nintendo ID (not your club nintendo) and check your points. You get bonus points for a deluxe Wii U and eshop purchases and you could be sitting on a nice pile of cash:

I read about it here:

Holy crap man.. I thought this was only for new Deluxe set owners. Turns out it's been going on since around the time the system launched. I had $20 in coupons to redeem!

FYI to those that picked up Mario Kart 8-- the free download code given out gives you points as well. If the game is 29.99 at retail, you will get 299 points. 59.99, you will get 599 points, etc. For every 500 points you get with this promotion, you get a $5 activation code for the eShop.

Wow, thank you! I remember checking this after making my first purchase and was disappointed to see there wasn't any money in there, then never bothered to check again.

Had $15 sitting in there! Now I just have to decide...Shovel Knight, or F-Zero MV and GoldenSun.

It was wierd, but when Nintendo advertised the Wii-U Deluxe promotion, I originally assumed the discounts would be credited to the eShop without going online to manually redeem coupon codes. And I thought I never got the discounts because I don't buy retail on disc instead of downloading it. So it seems I've spent just over $300 on the Wii-U eShop through indie and VC, because I apparently got credited with 500 points for downloading Zelda WW HD free through the MK8 promotion. Also my Wii-U is slowly getting full. I've got a few Gb left and a few more I can free up by deleting demos I don't want.

And I don't normally buy retail games, but some of the indie titles are huge. It's as if the devs don't even bother to compress at all. Giana Sisters is a 2D game and it takes like over 3 Gigs! IMO shouldn't be that big even for HD. Several other indie titles I've downloaded are bloatware as well... :P

If Nintendo was wise, they would just make this a standard thing with eShop purchases. I hate to give money to Nintendo for games I may not be able to recover if my system bites the dust, but having the occasional free $5 coupon has definitely helped fuel my eShop spending habits.

I agree...which is why I'm waiting for the physical copy of remix.

Some of us refuse to buy download titles that are also available at retail (unless it's a promotion or something). Nintendo knows that and are making the collectors in us go nuts buy releasing retail packaging long after the digital version.

Case in point: I bought the Super Luigi U DLC for $20, in summer 2013, then bought the physical game later that fall for $30. It's still minty sealed in the green case with the shrink wrap still on it.

Now it looks like I'll have another NES REMIX Wii-U retail disc sitting sealed on my shelf simply as an homage to my NES collecting self. And it will stay in the shrink-wrap like Luigi-U.

But I AM NOT a sealed collector:

I just hate the idea of NOT HAVING A PHYSICAL COPY of games... :???:

Can u do the points next year. Bought two games before christmas for 140.00.

Still havent put in for any points yet.

Wish it would automatically do whatever. As it know what games are on the console thru all the updates.

Games are 70 dollars? Yikes! Please be aware only digital purchases count towards the Deluxe promotion. If physical games counted, I'd be rolling in eShop dough. :P

I got my 5 bucks a while ago.. looks like there's still no more.

So this is only if you bought digital purchases? I guess that makes sense because the only digital purchase I ever did was the free one from Mario Kart 8 (I got Wii Party U). Physical all the way babeey :)
