Zoyx
Where is the best place to get refurbish kits for Atari 5200 controllers? An old 5200 fell into my lap, and of course the controllers don't work. Is there a way to refurb without a kit?
Sub(Function(:))
Maybe best electronics: http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/5200.htm
Zoyx
I was hoping to avoid Best... not the most user friendly site. But if that's all there is...
S1500
You don't like the 1994 cutting edge interactive digital media experience that is Best Electronics? Ask Official Ninja on here. He refurbed one of my controllers and it works great.
AtariBrian
There is a guy on ebay from I think Indiana that sells the kits . They cost a bit more though .

ArcadeJunkie
I just ordered and installed a new flex board from eBay.... saved my controller... def worth the money!
7800
The refurbished controllers with gold contacts work great, the real problem are the harnesses... they have shitty wiring which can cause functionality problems.
bohoki
you can often dissassemble them and clean the contacts and verify the cable with an ohm meter/continuity tester rub the buttons on some paper to clean them and clean the flex circuit with an eraser or fine sandpaper (600 grit and above)

7800
Oh and... if the cable does turn out to have bad traces and what not, you can buy replacement cables from best electronics... but they are NOS cables with the same crap wiring. I hope to see some newly manufactured 5200 harnesses some day. I suppose the Neo-Geo/5200 cable extenders that are sold on ebay could be used to make a new harness for the 5200 controller too, but it would probably be a bit of work.
