WestofHouse
There are a few Destiny threads scattered around here and in the specific console threads, but I thought it would be nice to have a single cross-platform thread in which to discuss the game. It has gone gold already, after all. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a new game or a launch was this anticipated. Bungie has announced there will be a day one patch, which is a bit frustrating because it means waiting that much longer to play it once you bring it home, but the good news is the patch apparently addresses issues based on player feedback from the beta. I just have to decide which class I want to play. I was a Titan in beta, but the Hunter looks awfully fun.
cimerians
I played an EXO Warlock, might switch to the Hunter though when I get the game. I had fun with it but it was just a beta, looking forward to the real thing.....so I can do a little dance. The only thing in the game that I found annoying was this: - Respawning enemies but I think there's no way around that for the type of game this is. - If you are playing it with someone, it’s not just you and them in the mission. It automatically adds people to it. Like you will get ported to an area with your friend and there will be 1-4 other people there who aren't in your group and could be doing their own thing or some dingleberry that sits there driving around you in circles or standing in front of you jumping repeatedly in your face. Don’t know if there is any way to turn the added people off. I am hoping they put something in to do that.
+remowilliams
Can't wait to get my hands on Destiny, I played the PS4 early access / beta as a Warlock and the XB1 as a Hunter and it was loads of fun.

That took me by surprise, too. I ended up fighting in a room with two other players, and I had no idea how it happened. I kind of like that, though. It beats people running around shouting "LFG" in chat. I'm not a fan of the endless respawns, either, but like you said there probably isn't a way around that.
WestofHouse
I picked up the Destiny edition of Newsweek yesterday. Yes, there is a special edition of Newsweek dedicated to Destiny. It has some great artwork, but the so-called "strategy guide" is pretty shallow. I don't think there is anything in it that most beta players didn't learn on their own. Although, the fact that there was a beach ball and a soccer ball hidden somewhere in the Tower was news to me. Still, not exactly game-changing info there. Might be worth a glance for those who didn't play the beta. DaytonaUSA
This is THE game I'm excited about for the year when it comes to my Xbox. Both PS4 and Xbox One honestly have been disappointing thus far. This beta however floored me. I can't WAIT to play this game, and I'm happy to say I got a limited edition. Might have to call in "sick" that day...
WestofHouse
Destiny the Game tweeted this yesterday: "Tomorrow: something is coming. Stay vigilant, Guardians. "
Video
yet another generic death match first person shooter? Yawn, think I'll pass. Yes, i"m aware of it having a campaign mode, and admittedly what little I played of the beta, it was cool...but lets be serious for a minute. How many are going to buy the game for that?
cimerians
Just thought I'd post this here as a friend of mine sent me this info today: There is a new background site for Destiny. https://www.destinyplanetview.com/en/home Lets you explore 3 areas and gives background info. If you explore it all, it gives you a code for something that might be something in game (not sure what) Or just check here and it will give you the code so you can just log in and enter it: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2fadoy/psa_the_code_for_the_destinyplanetviewcom_special/ Here's another boatload of codes: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/1pe7cd/heres_a_complete_list_of_all_the_destiny_trading/ Enter all codes here: http://www.bungie.net/en/User/coderedemption
WestofHouse
There is a new background site for Destiny. https://www.destinyplanetview.com/en/home "That. Was. AWESOME!" I almost peed myself when "Immigrant Song" started blasting during one of the movie scenes. Those were so well done. Now I'm even more torn about which class to be. The individual combat videos for each class are great. I had decided on Hunter (but not sure whether to go Blade Dancer or Gunslinger), but the Warlock looks like a jedi! I saw something that looked exactly like a Force Push. How awesome would that be? Decisions decisions. I guarantee at some point I'll have 6 characters -- one of each class and subclass. cimerians
Okay that live action movie was awesome. I like live action trailers, here's the launch one: http://youtu.be/9ZyQK6kUdWQ I also liked the live action God of War trailer a few years back, well done:
DaytonaUSA
I think trailers like these also show a lot of faith in their product. They aren't going to put the money into advertising such a high production live action sequence for a game that only sells a couple million copies. Heck, not even Call of Duty does live action trailers any longer.
WestofHouse
If you're so inclined you can watch a live stream of Gamespot folks playing the game live today. http://www.gamespot.com/videos/watch-us-play-destiny-now/2300-6421203/
WestofHouse
Bungie have posted the patch notes for update 1.0.1. They nerfed some weapons and skills and boosted others.

moycon
I managed to get a pre-order in on the 360 Ghost Edition. Kind of wish it had been the Xbox One edition, but oh well.
WestofHouse
I managed to get a pre-order in on the 360 Ghost Edition. Kind of wish it had been the Xbox One edition, but oh well. If I were you I'd sell the Ghost edition for twice what you paid, then buy the standard edition for Xbox One and a nice pair of shoes. I'll be picking up my pre-order today at Best Buy. I wish I'd taken the day off work. I'm still not sure which class I'm going to start out with. I'll probably not decide until I'm staring at the selection screen tonight. I wonder if Destiny will publish stats on how many people are playing each class? If there is one class that the majority are playing I like to pick something different. WestofHouse
Anyone care for the Destiny Strategy guide? I was browsing the Destiny thread on Reddit and someone said Prima Games were handing out free codes for the digital version of the guide. The guide is apparently in sections so he couldn't download or print the whole thing to PDF, but he says he got the important bits. He saved all the sections individually, some in Word and some in PDF. I converted everything to PDF and made it into a single file. It's over 300 pages. Enjoy
cybercylon
I am wondering if this is even worth picking up for the PS3/360 or just wait until decide which new console I want and just get the game on sale.... The wait might be awhile, but I probably could not outlive my to play pile as it is....
moycon
If I were you I'd sell the Ghost edition for twice what you paid, then buy the standard edition for Xbox One and a nice pair of shoes. I don't think it's going for that much or I surely would. I'm a sucker for collectors editions although I usually wait for them to drop significantly in price. I do like the little Ghost replica that comes with this edition. I guess really it's not going to mean that much to me if I'm not that into the game, and honestly I'm not that into the game right now. Reading early reviews so far hasn't been making me excited to play either. I dunno, I might sell this off yet. What's everyone think of the game so far now that it's officially released?
