Brucered
New to Wii2600 Emulator and need a bit of help. We have the emulator up and running, games all work smoothly with Wii Remove or our Wii Pro Controller Plus with the D-Pad arrows. The issue is when we try to use the Left Control stick on the Classic Game Controller in Wii2600, it doesn't work, only the "D-pad" does, but it shows as compatible in the Wiki. The remote is working and has been tested with regular Wii games and the Left Control Stick works fine. Is there a setting or something I'm missing or does this remote not work with this emulator? Thanks. Edited September 7, 2014 by Brucered
Nerf Herder73
The left analog stick can only be used on games that used analog controls on the 2600 such as the paddles and driving controllers. Joystick moves are strictly assigned to the D-Pad. There are two versions of the Wii Classic Controller. The "Pro" version (pictured in your post) is the second version and it required some additional work to make it fully compatible with homebrew on the Wii. This was up to each homebrew programmer to add it to their applications. Some didn't add it (O2Em does not support either version). In the case of Wii2600, this left the analog sticks non-functional. The older version without the "handles" will be fully compatible. Edited September 8, 2014 by Nerf Herder73
Brucered
Thanks. I figured it was too easy to grab a $10 joystick and think it would work with the Atari games on the Wii. I'm putting off buying the $40 adapter for now. Edited September 8, 2014 by Brucered
gliptitude
.. So I'm guessing this also explains why I cant get the nunchuck stick to work in non-paddle games as well? The wiki page for Wii2600 does seem pretty clear in listing the nunchuck as an option for directional controls in non-paddle games, (note that paddle controls are listed separately and remember that the Atari "driving" controller is not the same as the paddle and is not analog): (Screen capture taken from wiibrew.org/wiki/wii2600) .. Is this really just an error on the wiki page? Am i reading it wrong? .. Using the stick to emulate the stick seems like a pretty obvious capability to include. .. The nunchuck stick is easily mapable for the NES D-pad in FCEUltra for Wii. It's frustrating to not be able to use a stick when emulating a console like VCS which originally used a stick. .. The nunchuck by itself seems like it would be an awesome way to play 2600 games. Edited May 4, 2015 by gliptitude
Nerf Herder73
I've been able to play Pac-Man, Night Driver, Stella-A-Sketch, Indy 500 and Reflex all with the nunchuck. You might have to make an adjustment in the Game Properties menu.
gliptitude
Hmm. Well i hadn't found "game properties" section before. Still doesnt look like what i need. I changed some stuff around but it still interprets the nunchuck like a paddle so doesnt work on normal joystick games. I found a button mapping screen but pressing up on the nunchuck (when prompted to press desired button for "up") registers something strange. .. The interface seems only partially adapted to Wii as some menu stuff calls for keyboard commands. .. Am I supposed to configure this stuff on a PC and then transfer over to SD card?
