Anyone owns the Atari 5200 in Europe?

Hi!

 

i'm Finnish guy and i want to know if someone owns 5200 in EU area?

I'm planning to buy 5200(perhaps 2-port model if i get lucky)and just asking one question:

 

1. 5200 is NTSC version, we have PAL but i found ntsc to pal-pal to ntsc converter..any help?

I live in the Netherlands. I have a 5200 with some 40 games. I use it with a Samsung lcd television, which has no problem with the ntsc signal.

Germany here, two port 5200 and 19 games. Never tried it out yet

works fine on my multistandard TV

but I think you can forget trying to have a signal on a Pal tv

i have sony bravia kdl-37ex402, 3-4 years old tv..i checked colour system in specs:

 

-NTSC 3.58/4.43 (video input) YES

-PAL YES

-Secam YES

I have two A5200 4 port here in germany, but both are RGB modded.

 

So there are Working fine

There are two 5200 PAL games. I think Missile Command and Star Raiders. I think the roms are out there but I could be wrong.

Wow, so that means there's at least 3 Atari 5200s in the world with the VBXE mod, not counting any models Candle owns. Cool!

If the seller has all the parts for the system and says that it is untested I would steer clear. Something is most likely wrong with the system.

 

If the seller states the joysticks don't work it is a good idea to have the seller check the joystick port pins to make sure they are all present. They break easy and are a pain to fix. It doesn't matter if the pins are broken or not. The joysticks probably don't work either way.

 

Other things to consider:

 

Check out the Atarimax Ultimate SD. It is a little expensive but well worth the cost.

Best Electronics has rebuild kits for the joysticks or you can buy a set that is ready to go. It is a little difficult to navigate the site but the inventory is pretty much up to date. I've dealt with Brad and he is a good guy.

 

The most important advice I can give is get the Trak-Ball and then get Tempest from the AA Store
