TheAtariKing
I am restoring an Atari 1040STe that I picked up on feebay for $40 plus $30 for shipping. I want to apply new feet to the bottom of the case, but, I can not seem to be able to remove the original feet. They are the black rubber kind that have "flattened" out with age. Anyone know where to still get the Atari 4060STe labels? I think it is 4060, I could be wrong. Anyway it is the labels for 4 meg STe computers. GadgetUK
Hi, you can get 4160 STe labels from Best Electronics in the US, or there's someone selling them on EBAY at ridiculous price at the moment:- http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=151427979986 With regards to the feet, I think I know what you mean - that happened to my STe feet, I just used some isopropanol and with some effort they break up and you can clean the spot underneath. I replaced mine with some standard rubber feet which looked identical, off EBAY:- http://atariage.com/forums/topic/209692-replacement-ste-feet/
TheAtariKing
I finally got the feet removed. It took me about 30 to 45 minutes to remove each foot. It was almost like they had bonded to the plastic. I used 99% alcohol and about 200 cotton swabs. But, I did get all of each foot removed, cleaned up the case, and applied new feet. Looks much better now.
GadgetUK
That's great! Strange how they kind of melt over time isn't it? I suspect different models have different rubber used in the feet as I've got a few STFMs which have perfect feet and still original, yet my STe had the melted feet.
