Colecovision Zone collection for sale

Recommended Posts

After collecting video games for over twelve years and concentrating my collection on Colecovision for the last 8 years, I have decided to sell it all off. My passion is not there anymore and finding new items is becoming almost impossible. So, I’m giving you the opportunity to find rare items coming from my collection.

I have decided to sell my Coleco collection that included over 200 boxed games, brand new console and accessories, labels variation, prototypes, internal documents, press kits, and even my website. As an avid collector, my items are in near mint to mint condition. I took cares of them and put them in plastic case when it is possible. You have a chance to buy unique piece of history by contacting me directly.

How to proceed?

You can find an Excel file with my inventory attached to this message. The photos of my games are available on Facebook (at Colecovision Zone) and on Flickr (search for photos by Colecovisionzone). Take your time. It’s not first come first serve. Send me your offer at junior@colecovisionzone.com with the list of the games you are interested by and the amount your want to pay. I’ll answer all the emails on November 2nd starting with the highest offer. The more your offer, the better your chance is to be on top of my list.

What price I do want for my games? I want a fair price compared to what I can get on ebay minus 5-10%. You have the opportunity to get games from a collector who takes meticulous care of all the items as you do with your collection. If you really want something send me an offer than I can’t refuse.

I’ll accept payment with Paypal but I’ll ask you to pay the fees. It will cost me too much to accept all the fees.

I’ll ship games anywhere as long as you accept to pay the services with tracking number. I suppose if you can pay for items that worth hundreds of dollars, you can pay an extra $10 or $20 to track it. Last thing, I live in Canada and Canada post is more expensive than USPS. Don’t think I pay the price written of the stamp. There are provincial taxes, federal taxes and fuel overcharges that are not included on it. I will not make profit on shipping and I’ll refund the amount if I charge too much. I may need to buy big boxes of more protective stuff to be sure that you will get the games in perfect condition. I’ll let you know if it’s the case.

If you prefer to pick up the games, I’ll be happy to meet you. In that case, I’ll accept cash instead of Paypal payment.

I hope that I am clear. If you want more photos or more details, I’ll do my best to satisfy you.

Thank you.

Junior

Please ask to junior@colecovisionzone.com for the Excel file.

The "fees" are just part of doing business using Paypal. Passing them onto the buyer is BS and most online forums have now BANNED doing so.

I second this. Nothing more annoying then working out a price on an expensive item then having the seller say "please add 4% to cover paypal fees" etc..

The seller should just work the fees into the price :)

Junior is a very well respected member of the CV community and doesn't deserve to have shit thrown at him and his thread crapped on. It's hard enough coming to the conclusion to sell one's collection after spending/investing so much time and money over the years to this passion, so a little compassion should be in order as there may be other circumstances.

As far as his requirements for covering additional fees, that's completely up to him and if someone doesn't agree with it, simply don't buy.

As far as pics of the items for sale, they are all available on his site (he didn't snag pics or scans from other sites, he made them himself from the items he owns) or via Facebook and Flickr. I didn't find it to hard to check them out and it saves the AtariAge server(s) from a lot of extra glut.

Hey, I put a smiley in mine :)

My comment was more trying to be helpful, it really does turn a lot of people off (asking buyer to cover fees) and forums have started banning it.

...but, I get what you mean, if we dont like the rules just dont buy :)

On the plus side he is mentioning it first, nothing worse then getting the unexpected request for fees after a price has been agreed on..

Wasn't sure if the :) you placed in your post covered both sentences or just the second!!! :-D

Anyway, I chalk up my reaction to experiencing the collecting blues of late and seeing another friend to the community selling off his collection. I could never be mad at you, CC, you're one of my favs around here.

I can't help but feel sad to see a serious collection being sold off. This is my nostalgic side talking. I may be relatively new here but I've already met and dealt with several awesome collectors who take the beloved CV very seriously. Just sorry to see one go before I had a real chance to get to know them. I've been on Junior's web site many times in the last few months and it's an awesome storehouse of information. Junior mentions that he also is intending to sell his web site - I hope this information is able to be saved and used by someone else and is not lost. :)

Isn't "I want a fair price compared to what I can get on ebay minus 5-10%" really saying that you want more than you you would get selling this individually on ebay since there would be fees involved?

I wish he would state a minimum acceptable offer since some of this is difficult to value.

Also, where in Canada is this? I haven't been to Canada in awhile but it seemed pretty big the last time I was there :)

I remember I was in many speed metal and death metal bands as a youth, started in high school and played some pretty big shows (for that style of music at least) The last band I was in was in my 30's and a bit more radio friendly/commercial music but too much time had passed and I just didn't have the "fire" anymore. I had no interest in touring, we shot a video and I looked bored in it so they cut me out of most of it, lol. One day we were playing a show and some sound guy that used to work for toto or something gave a half drunk speech to some new and aspiring band about the struggles/etc.. I was barely listening but one thing stuck in my mind that he said...

"If you don't have the passion and desire to do this, and are just doing it to do it, then just go home"

Although the speech was not directed at me it was the last show I ever played. No sad story that I had to sell my drums or blah, blah... sometimes you just are not excited about things the way you used to be and your time/money can better be spent elsewhere. Although drums was always my "thing" I was just doing it to "do it" and had already went as far with it as I was ever going to. The excitement and passion was gone and it was time to just go home :)

It's not always a sad story when someone moves on, sometimes its really just time to move on. In the video game collecting scene (especially this pre NES stuff) a lot of people are getting older and just have other interests now. I know nothing of the OP's story for selling but just saying it doesn't have to be a "sad" thing :)

I'll second that.

Well said. I crossed that bridge playing in 2004. Whereas I was bummed to leave it behind, [still have way too much gear], I am happy today that it is behind me knowing I left nothing on the table.
