high voltage
How many different units are out there? I got the Videoplexer, just won a Video Game Brain, and I'm soon getting a Romscanner. Are there any more out there from other companies?
+bcombee
There's also the Imagic game selector. It wasn't sold to individuals, just to stores for use in displays. See http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-2600-vcs-imagic-selector-v2_15741.html Edited October 24, 2014 by bcombee
high voltage
Ah yes that's nice too.
+Gemintronic
Are all of them wired such that it may damage carts like the Video Game Brain?
+save2600
Or Harmony maybe? Never cared for these game selector thingies... the ones I've had throughout the years, all produced noticeable to excessive RF noise across the screen.
high voltage
Are all of them wired such that it may damage carts like the Video Game Brain? My Videoplexer is sealed, and it stays this way.
Keatah
Despite having one of these back in the day I STILL found myself swapping cartridges like an ADD crazed lunatic.
Video
I never damaged a cart with my game brain, how was that done? (but then, I didn't use3 it a lot, I didn't like the massive amount of RF garbage it gave to games, always wondered if I could shield it or something and fix that, but was always chronically lazy so never tried)
Shawn
There is also a Parker Bros one in the same vein as that Imagic one. Myself I don't really think either one of those count though as both of them are more retail store units not consumer use units like the Game Brain, ect. BassGuitari
I've got a couple of Game Brains but I never bother with them. For one thing, they're only marginally more convenient than just changing the carts out normally, but they also cause video interference; my picture is terrible with the Game Brain. Are there any more out there from other companies? If you want to dump roms and you know someone with an eprom burner, there is a replacement 7800 BIOS that uses the joystick port to connect to a PC and dump roms to the PC. One of my 7800s has this mod and I dumped a number of games, but I don't recall if it dumps 7800 roms or not.
