demon_fish93
Hi everyone, just registered. Recently I installed the av mod here: www.vintagegamingandmore.com/pal/ to my 7800 and now it doesnt power on, I noticed when I press the power button that the black chip on the top right of the console gets very hot and gives off a burning smell. Ive installed this same kit on my 2600 junior with no worries. I followed the 7800 tutorial correctly. Hopefully someone can help.
Rybags
There's various revisions of the 7800 so you need instructions that relate to your one. Black chip @ top right? The vertical component at top right is a voltage regulator, it gets hot normally, that's why it's screwed to the metal backplate which serves as a heatsink. Osgeld
the voltage regulator will get kind of sort of hot anyway, but very hot and burning smell, you shorted something to ground, check your wiring, expect to get a new regulator as well Edited November 9, 2014 by Osgeld
