palmheads
Hey With all the cool game development going on, wonder if anyone has thought of writing one for the mini memory module? Was it about 4K? I know it would be a pain to use the LBLA these days (and Editor/Assembler development easier), but I wonder if it's possible to develop something using assemblers etc on the desktop. Like a mini memory development environment mimicking the LBLA. Possible? Cheers Daryn
+OLD CS1
Rock Runner was developed on the Mini Memory. It would make a neat challenge to make a program that runs in the Mini Memory space, solely. There are 4k demo compos in the world
Willsy
You can use the editor assembler just fine for MM development programs. Just REF your favorite utilities such as KSCAN VMBR VMBW etc and the MM loader will substitute the correct addresses at load time just like the editor assembler does. Neat little cart. I learned 9900 assembler on that puppy! Started learning it on Nottingham train station in about 1989/1990 having just bought it from a TI faire. Those were the days. Nearly missed my bloody train!
palmheads
Thats good to know Willsy. OLD CS1 - yeah, maybe a coding challenge thing. Like the good old ZX81 1K games! Am gonna try using one of the assembly language books (Lottrup) with the linux cross assembler asm900, just see if I can understand the concepts etc cheers Daryn

UKRetrogamer
After seeing this, I GOTTA buy an F18A!
Wildstar
I'd be incredibly suprised if that video was actually done on a TI-99/4A with F18A chip.
carlsson
No, it is a production for Windows XP with a rather beefy graphics card by 2009 standards. It is a landscape generator and more, where the executable fits within 4K of compressed code, but I imagine the workspace RAM used by the program far exceeds that amount once it is running. http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=52938
Wildstar
My first thoughts was this was a PC demo. Though a F18A demo with the TI-99/4A can be interesting though.
+OLD CS1
I would think you could so some pretty amazing things with an F18A's GPU and direct access to VDP RAM. I am not certain this would meet compo criteria, though. Maybe a special F18A category. How cool would it be to see a TI-99/4A entry at The Gathering or Assembly. (For that matter, it would be cool as shit to attend one of these compos...)
Omega-TI
While going through an old copy of 99'er Home Computing, I realized the issue I had was pretty lame, so decided NOT to scan the whole thing in. I did however find an interesting article for you Mini Memory owners. MiniMemoryRelocator.pdf
