Omega-TI
I know more than a few of you out there have a Lantronix UDS-10 hooked up to your Classic Computer... ... so, what's your FAVORITE TELNET BBS? What kind of system is it running on? What is it's focus? What's it name, or IP#? Why do you like it?

Omega-TI
I like heatwavebbs.com (68.109.180.48,23) as it's the ONLY TI-99/4A related BBS on the entire planet that's accessible via Telnet. It's running on a Geneve 9640, which is basically a TI compatible, but more advanced computer on a card that resides in the TI-99/4A Peripheral Expansion Box. If you have a TI-99/4A or Geneve 9640 and a Lantronix UDS-10, you'll want to try Heatwave!

bkrownd
I wish I knew about these things back in the 1980s. It would have totally transformed my early computer experience.

kaufenpreis
If I may add one to the list, mine would be Command Board. It's the only one I could consistently play and not get tired of it if I was playing it with friends
doctorclu
I wish I knew about these things back in the 1980s. It would have totally transformed my early computer experience. I totally know how you feel on this one. I used to kick myself because I did not get on the Unknown BBS sooner, and seemed I missed the golden years of that BBS. Which I had. But one of the members basically said "You arrive when you arrive". I hung out with them for a few years on the BBS, it closed down, but I still have a lot of friends from that place. So that is my advice to you. You missed the golden years? Well, stop missing it and get to know what is out there now.

ianoid
Semi OT: Can I make classic computer modem calls using a VOIP line?
The Evener
Bump and a cross-post! I made a thread on the Commodore 8-bit forum, and wanted to raise it here as well: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/249971-calling-all-commodore-dial-up-modem-users-bbs/ I have heard that your mileage will vary when using a modem on a VOIP line -- I gather it depends on how they built the "back end" (I read it somewhere - I think on a BBS!) Zap!
The 718 (NYC) scene was amazing from 1993-1996. Amazing isn't even the word. They were my best years ever. Who remembers Knight's Realm, The Missing Link, Paris, The Sports Pages, Great American BBS, Island Pub, and countless others!
