0078265317
Scored an original flashback 1 with red label (mini thing that looked like a 7800) off ebay for 11 dollars and 40 cents including shipping. Works great. But power cord has to be wiggled sometimes to work. Still great for the controllers. They are self centering and works so great. But few questions. 1. Was the original included with an ac adapter that had the Atari logo on it? That would explain why mine is wonky. Its a rectangle brick not the small square with Atari logo. 2. Why won't my controllers work on 5200 with my masterplay clone? At least for pacman should. But it goes all the way left and then stops. And the joystick does nothing. The fire buttons make him go down after that. And that's it. Its the same 9 pin so should it not work? Or flashbacks are wired differently? My genipad works fine. 3 buttons controller not 6. And my masterplay clone works great but adjusting the pots with screwdriver is hard to see without taking the top off. Is there any screw knobs that will fit in the holes that stick out a tad so I can make it easier to adjust it?
0078265317
Ok this is weird. I fired up my sears telegames 2600. None of the controllers work. My genipad works fine. But the flashback controllers refuse to work. And no they are not broken. I double checked. They work in my flashback. Just not in my 2600. So I guess they only work in flashback. How weird. OldSchoolRetroGamer
Well I am glad you got it so cheap as the "original / 1st" Atari Flashback is also the worst and yes as you are finding the included controllers work only with the Flashback. From this article: Unfortunately, even though these sticks use the same 9-pin adapters of the classic Atari 7800 system, they won't work in an actual 7800 system. That's a real bummer for collectors looking for joystick replacements that work better and feel more comfortable than the original units released 20 years ago. http://ca.ign.com/articles/2004/12/15/atari-flashback I myself have the Atari Flashback 2 (the 2 and 2+ are the only ones that can be modded for a cartridge port) this video sums up the original pretty well for the most part. http://youtu.be/E087ygdC-ew
