+thegoldenband
Forgive me if this is old news, but I found this interesting blog post over at Hardcore Gaming 101: Over 1800 Atari VCS games trawled for hidden stuff! The key part is the PDF link embedded in the article: Strung Out: Printable Strings in Atari 2600 Games I'm not sure if Prof. Aycock is a member here -- his name rings a bell. Either way, there's all kinds of cool stuff, some of which is probably well-known and some of which I certainly didn't know about: source code, Apple II disk commands, love notes, and our old friend Etaoin Shrdlu.
Thomas Jentzsch
Very interesting. Maybe you want to compare with my findings.
RevEng
"DAVE STAUGAS LOVES BEATRICE HABLIG" in every commercial copy of Millipede. A little bit sophmoric, but touching as well. It sounds like they were just friends at the time. He also stuffed "Dave StaUgas loves Bea Hablig" in TOS too. I wonder if she ever vanity-searches her own name. If so, she knows the truth by now.
Mef
This is a great read. Reminds me of my C64 days when I used a cart with machine language Monitor to manually search for PETSCII strings or sprite data in the games. Ah, these were the times, no internet, no documentation to be had, only trial and error, haha. Edited January 4, 2015 by Mef

A nice little youtube video about Etaoin Shrdlu:
