Post options are always grayed out

Using Google Chrome, but must do everything like inserting images manually. The options that appear above this as I'm composing this post are un-selectable.

 

That's also the case when editing my posts, including when I'm using the full editor.

 

Been that way I think since the forum software was changed or upgraded, but never has annoyed me enough to bother posting an inquiry about it until now.

When using the post editor, click the icon in the upper-left corner and that will put it in "WYSIWYG" mode, where all the icons will be enabled. In the other mode, you have to use bbcode tags for everything.

That button can be very useful when replying to multiple quotes. I switch between fancy mode and plain mode many times a day, depending on what needs to be done in a post.
