bumperdenter
My dad's Falcon 030 hasn't been hooked up in years. I wanted to run it for his Christmas. Can anyone tell me where to buy a cheap VGA monitor adapter? I know so little about computers. I also see an RCA video jack but can't see a signal when using atari 75ohm adapter. Fletch
Not sure its very cheap, but Best Electronics has the adapter for $25 Falcon VGA Monitor Adapter This adapter plugs into the Falcon DB19 Video port and allows you to use a standard IBM VGA monitor on the Falcon CB102158 $24.95 http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/falcon.htm
Fletch
Oh and that is an RF port, not composite on the Falcon. An old Atari 2600 switch box should work if you have on of those lying about. Don't expect a decent picture though.
bumperdenter
Is this the one? Any Ideas on the power supply?
Tenorman
No, not that particular one. That is for a four port Atari 5200 and is one of the few RF switches from the early 80s that won't work. The Atari 5200 is odd in that the power input is on the switchbox and power is fed into the console through the RF cable. I don't know what that would do to your Falcon if you plugged it in. Use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Atari-2600-Coaxial-Plug-Female-Adapter/dp/B0028MXOF6 Or one of these (Atari 2600, 7800, Intellivision, Colecovision, and god knows what else all used similar switch boxes) http://www.amazon.com/High-Quality-Atari-2600-Switch/dp/B000IMOOCK As mentioned before, the picture won't be particularly good doing this, but if all you want to do is play some games for a bit I suppose it would be good enough. bumperdenter
The second one pictured there is what I used this afternoon. We couldn't get a signal on a flatscreen that had a 75ohm thread connector
Fletch
Well that is bizarre. You sure you have the flat screen's tuner set to analog? Tuning to channel 3 with the digital tuner isn't going to do a thing.
bumperdenter
Analog....? Now I am looking like a tenderfoot. For selections it had had Component, AVI, TV, etc, nothing I would recognize as analog. So I need an old CRT portable TV?
