achtbits
A month ago I bought the Harmony Encore and I got it shipped with the PAL60 firmware, so I could get started using it right away, although the colors aren't right. Back then I was told that after about 2 weeks the PAL50 firmware would be available. Is there any target date for the release of the PAL50 firmware? Thanks. Thomas Jentzsch
There are no color differences between PAL50 and PAL60. Maybe you mean you go an NTSC version?
achtbits
I guess, there are still some things I need to understand about the Harmony Encore and it's software, like: How can I find out which firmware is actually installed on it? I see the version 1.06, but can't see if it's NTSC/PAL60/PAL50. Fred wrote in an email that he shipped it with PAL60, but I can't verify that. Also I can't seem to find a download link for any 1.06 PAL firmware. If there's a PAL60 firmware on the Harmony and I have NTSC ROM files on it, will the colors be 'strange'? That might explain what I see. SOLVED: When using PAL ROMs the games look good on my TV again Fred wrote in an email to me, that I don't need to connect my Harmony to my computer via USB anymore for upgrading the firmware, instead I could use a firmware update utility, that's available here on the forums and that allows to upgrade directly from the Harmony menu. Is it this one: http://sourceforge.net/projects/harmonycart/? I guess not, because it says "USB Programmer". Yes, the firmware only affect the Harmony menu, not the games. If you are using a PAL 2600, you need PAL or PAL60 roms to display correct colors.
