Wireless 5200 controller/Trak-Ball? anyone try it?

I came across this a link for making snes and nes wireless controllers using the original controllers.

It involves pic programing.

 

Has anyone done something like this for an Atari (5200 or other system)?

Do you think it could work?

yes, it would work, you would use a micro like a pic to sample the joystick and buttons and some type of link, like IR or RF to another pic or whatnot to reproduce the signal to the console

 

has anyone done it? dunno, probably not, they are too worried about getting joysticks that work, let alone work wireless
