Lost Dragon
No idea where to put this thread as it covers a wide range of Atari platforms, but... Mark (Gremlin book) very kindly put the following questions to Ian Stewart today on my behalf today, regarding plans etc for the various Atari platforms and i thought i'd share the answers with the community here. I started by asking how Ian viewed the A8 market: A1 - Viewed it the same as other platforms - MSX for example a very minor market, especially in the UK. They only did MSX versions of games because of Fungus and that it was a couple of hours to port games - they usually made a loss - and they had no in-house Atari specialisms at the time. Q2+Q3 concerned any plans to support the consoles such as the XEGS and 7800 A2/A3- No thoughts on the platforms, they came and went, because the machine was a good machine didn't necessarily mean that games would sell on them. Can't remember any games planned for Atari apart from the bought title (offered through a distribution deal) and none for the 7800 at all. Lost Dragon
The 'bought title' would be Deflektor... Q4 was if they planned any more Lynx titles after Switchblade 2: A4 - No other Lynx games planned, think that SWII on the platform showed it was commercially unviable, as did SWI on the Amstrad Plus - though they did continue to support the 8-bit markets when everyone else stopped - for as long as commercially possible. Ian knows the original guys behind the Lynx - the original Epyx team. And Q5 was if they planned any more Jaguar games after Zool 2: A5 - Thinks the only game they did on Jaguar was Zool 2 (I think I have Zool2 on Jag) ... and can't remember why, but suspects a similar reason to the above with the Lynx. Sorry for multiple posts, in a rush as off to work... But thought the community could do with the info, clears up a good few rumours about games headed to Jaguar/7800 etc. Enjoy.
