CV Gus
Hmmm...also saw a video for Moon Patrol. I have an earlier version, Matt Patrol, also known as "Flying Brassieres." Does the finished version of Moon Patrol just change the title screen and enemy saucers, or does it also include the lava bursts and rolling rocks? Black Onyx looks interesting, too. +Psionic
Does the finished version of Moon Patrol just change the title screen and enemy saucers, or does it also include the lava bursts and rolling rocks? As far as I know, the only changes or improvements were to the graphics. None of the actual code was modified, so if the original hack lacked these things, then the version published by CollectorVision does as well. I do know that the TI-99 version also lacked the uphill climbing segments with the rolling rocks.
Omega-TI
I do know that the TI-99 version also lacked the uphill climbing segments with the rolling rocks. Now that you mention it, you're right of course, I just never noticed it before.
ColecoDan
yes the new game was just hacked to fix some things. Nothing was actually programmed to make it different
Ikrananka
Does the finished version of Moon Patrol just change the title screen and enemy saucers, or does it also include the lava bursts and rolling rocks? I was the one that completed the hack of Matt Patrol that was released as Moon Patrol by CollectorVision. There were a number of changes made as follows: Title Screen - updated to "Moon Patrol" plus other changes to more closely reflect the Arcade title screen. Enemy Sprites - ALL enemy sprites were updated to more closely reflect the Arcade versions. Stationary Rocks - the graphics for the stationary single and double rocks were adjusted to try and make them look more like the Acarde and less like balls of flames. Status - the game status area (at the top of the gameplay screen) was adjusted to more closely match the Arcade screen, including changes to the character set and colour changes. The sloping ground sections of the Arcade game (with rolling rocks) were never included in the Matt Patrol rom and therefore are not in the CollectorVision release. More details here.
