Atari 2600 heavy sixer video cable question

I just picked up a heavy sixer and brought it home. When testing it out I discovered that the video fades/changes colors when playing games. My best initial guess is that the video cable may be going bad. Unfortunately, I don't have any cables to test it out with on hand. From what I've read you can use a standard composite cable for testing like this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Audio-Video-Composite-Cable/dp/B001VJ465O/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8

I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to something like this Monster composite video cable?

http://www.amazon.com/Monster-MC-200R-4M-Composite-meters/dp/B0010DVBV8/ref=sr_1_71?ie=UTF8&qid=1429725629&sr=8-71&keywords=composite+video

My second question on both the above is would they actually fit inside the system and into the rca to male coax adapter very well?

Next question would be has anyone tried taking a regular coaxial cable and connecting an F-Type female to RCA male adapter to one end and plugging it into the Atari. Then plugging the coaxial side into the TV? Example of adapter here and pictured below:

http://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-104130-Female-Adaptor-Plated/dp/B001VL9SQE/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1429725412&sr=8-4&keywords=f+male+to+rca+female

Again due to length and width of the adapter I'm not sure if it would fit inside the Atari. Do you think this would work?

What, in your opinions, is the best option for replacing the video cable in an Atari 2600? :D

First of all. Congrats on acquiring a Heavy Sixer!! When you power on the system are the colors inverted on your tv screen? If so there should be a hole in the rf shielding unit with a screw inside. Take the top tray off and test a game and try adjusting the screw to see if the colors go back to normal. you will need a flathead. Secondly I have never tried any of these adapters in my systems. And I don't have any of them myself. And I am highly certain it will fit inside of them. You may have to shave the sides of the cable slightly if it doesn't fit into the hole out of the unit.
