Meetup at Portland Retro Gaming Expo on Oct 17th-18th

Recommended Posts

The Intellivision folks from AA are meeting up in Portland this year at PRGE.

If you thought CGE 2014 was fun, last year's PRGE was bigger. This year's PRGE will be absolutely huge with 50% more floorspace than last year. PRGE is occurring in Portland, Oregon on October 17th and 18th.

Portland is also a lot of fun:

  • Lot's of tasty breweries
  • A great city for "foodies" (from expensive restaurants to delicious food trucks).
  • Doughnuts that range from quirky Voodoo Doughnuts (I got married there) to gourmet at Blue Star (ex: Blueberry Bourbon Basil doughnut).
  • Plenty of thrift / vintage stores to check out.
  • Powell's City of Books (multiple blocks of used and new books)
  • Fantastic public transportation via light rail.

Main question: what day or days do we want to meet up up?

  • Saturday afternoon (note: there is an auction in the evening, but they are run efficiently)
  • Sunday afternoon or evening?
  • Friday evening?

I think it was Willie or Mike that said on a podcast the the owners of the CGE brand are wanting to move it to Texas to go with their museum.

I'm kind of fine with that as now I don't have to decide between Vegas and Portland, I'll just go to Portland. Really looking forward to it.

Oh, I knew that was coming! :)

We haven't discussed it in detail yet, but it's definitely something we're thinking about.

All three of you should go. We'll hook you up with a special Intellivisionaires PRGE show-only game called Trikx, limited signed edition run of 30 copies. Caveat is you each have to sign 9 copies, but none of you can sign the same copy as someone else ;-)

I am trying to line this up. It would be great to meet Crazy Climber, Rev and Tarzilla and who ever else I haven't met yet.

Plus the rest of the group that made it to CGE last year. And yes, by all accounts CGE is moving to Texas with the Video Game History Museum and will be in Vegas no more.

I heard as well the Riviera hotel in Vegas is getting torn down soon. :(

My wife and I heard the same thing. While the Rivera wasn't in pristine shape, it is one of the few old-school casinos left. Seems silly when there are unfinished casinos next to it and empty lots across the street. Even that recent car ad with Penn & Tenner shows the Rivera in the background as they drive by. Kind of sad.

I have an actual Tradeshow booth...if anyone needs one. Be great for Intellivision related art work. I hope to go so bringing the booth is easy...I also have Pipe and Drape. So if we want to have a "Board Booth" I can provide the set up.

That's awesome. What a cool place, and to have a wedding there must have been a blast.

I will be there all damn weekend as usual!! I am hoping for some Intellivisionaries presence, but would love to run into any of the AA homies I have not met before. Seems like if a specific meetup time or place isn't setup, then I just spend the weekend running wild with all the stuff to look at.
